Whilst experience riding an electric bike is not necessary (we'll provide an orientation and we'll do a test ride to make sure you're comfortable before we head off), you must of course be able to ride a bike! If you haven't ridden in a while, for your enjoyment/safety and that of your fellow riders, we strongly recommend you have a practice riding at home before your visit to Auckland. As well as riding on our wonderful cycleways, we will of course be riding in the road at times (to get to the good places!). Riding in traffic is a dynamic environment, so you will need to be comfortable riding in the road in order to enjoy the tour. And Auckland's volcanic past means that there a quite few hills to go up and down - the eBikes make going up easy, but you'll obviously need to be able to ride downhill! If you’d prefer a shorter, easier ride along Auckland’s beautiful waterfront - check out The Easy Rider, one of our other tour listings!
Closed toe shoes are required. Sports gear not necessary, casual clothes are fine but dress to the conditions please.
Free storage available for small bags at the city centre departure point.
The tours run rain or shine, you will be provided free use of a bright and comfortable rain jacket, if you need one.
Our electric bikes are designed with a maximum weight capacity of 250 pounds (113 kg).
We recommend you bring sunscreen - the sun in NZ can be very harsh.
You may also wish to bring a bottle of water with you for the ride. You can store that in the bag on your bike. The is also a water fountain near our departure point - if you need to fill up your water bottle.
Whilst we welcome solo riders, this experience requires a minimum number of riders booked in order for it to go ahead (2). If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll either be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

When visiting new cities we like to do e-bike tours to get oriented and learn about some highlights of the city. This was one of the best tours we have been on. Our guide Reuben was excellent. He did a great job explaining upcoming routes and reminding us to keep left (good for those of us used to riding on the right). This company uses a wireless communication system so all riders could hear the guide - a first for us and really helpful.

This is the tour you should take when you first arrive in Auckland. The scenery and the information that's provided is exceptional. The e bikes are up to date models, easy to operate and fun to rides. Our tour guide Eddie made sure we were all comfortable with the operation of the bikes and had us take a quick test drive to assess our comfort with this type of bike. the bike paths in Auckland are amazing and due to this fact there was very little distance travel on the roadways.

Eddie was full of chat and useful information right from the start, making sure we were all comfortable and safe on our e-bikes as well as finding out each person's reason for being in Auckland and tailoring his facts (and jokes) to suit the audience. The bikes were very easy to ride and great fun, especially on what should have been an exhausting ride up Mount Eden but we didn't even break a sweat. Every stop had a great reason, with brilliant stories both historical and personal about the city and surrounding area. Eddie even pointed out nice places to visit, for food; drink and culture and at the end he sent us off with a detailed printed list of suggestions grouped by area to make then even easier to find. This was a fantastic tour from start to finish which showed us parts of the city we would never have found and taught us facts and history we would not have appreciated without Eddie's personal insight.

Went on the 'Classic' 3 hour tour and loved it. Eddie is incredibly knowledgeable about the history and soul of New Zealand, and makes it interesting and fun. Also the ear pieces make it so easy to peddle and listen. It's a fantastic way to see the beautiful city of Auckland - it's an absolute must do! Tim and Sophie (UK)

Despite his Scottish heritage Eddie is a passionate and knowledgeable ambassador for Auckland and New Zealand. Great bike tour, great bikes and as a bonus I met my second wife on the tour!

If you’re visiting Auckland, skip the bus and book a tour with Power to the Pedal. We spent a few hours exploring the city with Eddie, and it was easily the highlight of our trip. Auckland is famously hilly, but these e-bikes make those inclines feel like flat ground. We covered so much more territory than we ever could have on foot, from the stunning waterfront and the iconic "Pink Path" (Te Ara I Whiti) to the top of the volcanic peaks for the best views in the city. Eddie is incredibly knowledgeable about Auckland’s history and geography. He kept the group safe, kept the pace perfect, and felt more like a local friend showing us around than a formal tour guide. A huge bonus was the communication after the tour. Eddie sent over a GPS animation of our entire route, which was such a cool way to relive the ride and share it with friends. It shows exactly where we went and how much ground we covered. Verdict: Top-notch bikes, a brilliant guide, and a unique way to see the "City of Sails." Don’t hesitate—just book it!

Our family had an absolutely wonderful time - despite the rain. Eddie is a great guide, and being able to hear him talk while riding was very nice. We would take this tour again in a minute!
