Be captivated by the coastal city where echoes of corsairs and conquest linger on this self-guided audio tour. Experience the magic of GPS playback on this immersive stroll through Saint Malo.
Every cobblestone and sea breeze in Saint Malo seems to whisper a tale of resilience, adventure, and the enduring spirit of Brittany’s captivating coastal city. On this walking tour, you’ll embark on a journey around its walled old town to see its hidden treasures.
I’ll show you three of the old city’s gates, starting with Saint Vincent Gate, where I’ll tell you why you’ll see ermines everywhere in Saint Malo. On your way to the Big Gate where our tour ends, you’ll walk along Saint Malo’s ramparts, hear its surprising history and learn a thing or two about the area’s climate.
By the end of this tour, you’ll have gained a new appreciation for this slice of Brittany, its history, and maybe, just maybe, a new sense of humour courtesy of the Malouins who call the city home.

A great way to way to learn about the city and enjoy time on the water on a beautiful day. Coffee and tasty biscuits were a nice treat.

To you have somebody guiding you around, without having to look down at your screen all the time is a very positive integration of computers within the world. There was a pleasure in looking as opposed to following that cannot be underrated when you’re only in town for an afternoon.

This an excellent guide. It uses GPS coordinates to know where you are so that the narrator speaks when you at the specific location pertaining to that bit of narrative. You can pause if you want to take a break and resume when ready. The information provided is excellent and interesting. This is the best audio guide experience I've had thus far. Well done!

It was amazing! Beautiful sites and views. The audio tour does not take you all around the walls/ramparts. But the descriptions and GPS mapping were right on!

I think it is a very good way to get to know the city at your own pace, in my case I had a coffee break and then continued the visit, so that was great, and even if you can do the visit in the 75 minutes I higly recommend to take your time and enjoy the views. I also found the stories and comments about the city very interesting!

The spatial guidence was excellent, so easy to follow and such good company through out the walk. The acutal audio guidence had a tempo that maybe was a bit too high. It would have helped a lot if a French pronounciation of the names and places had been used. Over all thoug a guided tour that I really enjoyed!

Saint Malo is a beautiful walled city with buildings and narrow cobbled streets befitting to its heyday as the hardest city to invade. This reputation is maintained into the 21C as our first two attempts to visit were thwarted by sheer numbers of visitors on a weekend and on Bastille Day. On our third attempt, we made partial success by entering the defensive walls by car, only to find our efforts thwarted. This time it was the lack of signage to disabled parking or even discovery of such rarity within the walls that kept our motor running. We could readily see the irregular cobbled surfaces, the narrow pavements edged by 8 inch granite slabs that are the nightmare to wheelchair and mobility scooter uses. Alas we chose the exit route, paradoxically discovering 3 disability parking spaces by the exit rather than the entrance. I was not surprised to note that none of the 3 vehicles occupying those precious parking spaces displayed any disability enabling entitlement. It is such a shame that such a beautiful city does not flag up a how to visit Saint Malo for those with accessibility issues. Prior to our entry we enquired of disability parking to two local lady gendarme controlling traffic. Their look of mystery said a thousand words. We abandoned our visiting aspirations and took refuge in the nearest Leclerc hyper market. As events happened this second choice for a visit proved more successful yet did not have any authentic historical resonance.

It is very difficult to make the app work. Reboot 3 times during walk. And very complicated to locate in the streets or ramparts of St Malo. The photos proposed to locate us are very difficult to access depending on the sunshine. We took 3h30 to do the 2h walk. But the comments are very interesting.
