Eben was our driver/guide for the day and he was such a fantastic guide, I will recommend him to anyone visiting Accra. It was a long day and a bumpy drive at some point but he made us comfortable and ensured we were good throughout. He also showed us around specific areas we were interested in within the castles and adjusted the itinerary to our speed. I recommend this tour

The whole day was about 15 hours. The trip from Accra was long and bumpy. I was not ready for the hike uphill at Kakum but it was really fun. This would be difficult for anyone with mobility limitations. Our guide at the Cape Coast Castle was excellent. Very emotional for me as an African American. Our guide Kofi was great and made everything go smoothly. Would definitely recommend.

Kofi and Daniel were great hosts and guides. They picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. Drove us to Kakum, Elmina, and Cape Coast. Throughout the ride they gave history lessons on the land and cities we passed.

The experience of visiting castles as well as nature was unforgettable. The tour guides were very kind and helpful. Due to road construction, the return trip was very long and it took away from the great cultural experience. I believe that there were some coordination issues that also I impeded the experience. But overall, I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in getting both culture and nature.

An incredible day exploring the history behind the transatlantic slave trade. A great way to explore outside of the city too.

I had an incredible day on this tour. Emmanuel picked me up, and while I was initially apprehensive about travelling solo, we got on instantly and the long journey passed in a flash. He is extremely knowledgeable about Ghana’s rich history and consistently provided context that helped me understand the country on a much deeper level. Emmanuel was also very flexible, allowing me to visit the Assin Manso Slave River instead of the National Park, and ensuring I had knowledgeable guides at each stop. I’d recommend carrying cash for tips and being mindful of people selling items outside the castles. Emmanuel was aware I had an evening flight and made sure I returned to Accra exactly on schedule, which I really appreciated. It’s a day with real emotional weight, but one I’m truly grateful to have experienced. I leave Ghana with a far deeper understanding of my ancestral past. The whole team at Big Ben Tours did an excellent job organising such a smooth, thoughtful day — thank you all!

It was very interesting touring Cape Coast and Elmina castles. You are confronted with a lot of history but also a very interesting landscape. Our driver was excellent and made us to enjoy this excursion a lot. Be aware that currently most of the road from Accra to Cape Coast is under construction which extends travelling time quite significantly.

We really enjoyed today’s tours and were pleasantly surprised when our guide, Emmanuel, told us we had the option to visit the Assin Manso “slave river.” That was the highlight of our day. We also enjoyed visiting the Elmina Castle and learning more about the slave trade. Emmanuel was a great guide.
