Mt. Hood is the highest summit in Oregon, and the fourth highest in the Cascades. It features waterfalls, glaciers, and historic Timberline Lodge, built by local artisans during the Great Depression, and featuring the longest ski season in the US. To the north of Mt. Hood is the Hood River Valley. You will get intimate with this area through a visit to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood, fruit stands in the Hood River Valley, downtown Hood River (your opportunity for lunch and/or alcoholic beverages), and breathtaking stops in the eastern and western Columbia River Gorge (Multnomah Falls included). Your expert guide, with formal background in ecology and natural resources, will teach you about the natural and cultural history of the area, as you drive the Mt. Hood and Historic Columbia River Highway Scenic Byways. Pickup and drop-off at your hotel.

Mount Hood
Mt. Hood is a potentially active stratovolcano, the highest peak in Oregon, and the fourth highest in the Cascades. Not only is it known for its beauty, visible on the skyline of much of northern Oregon and southern Washington, but it is also the most climbed stratovolcano in the Cascades, easily accessible from Timberline Lodge, which is the only ski resort in the US that is open every month of the year. You will spend 1-2 hours at Timberline Lodge, on the mountain, just below the Palmer Glacier.
Timberline Lodge
This Works Progress Administration project was dedicated by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1937. It is one of the most unique, and expansive buildings in the State of Oregon, sitting on Mt. Hood above timberline, for utterly sublime views. You can divide your time among interpretive displays, food & drink venues, hiking in summer and snowplay in winter, as you like. The lodge is a National Historic Landmark, and the only ski resort in the US that is open every month of the year.

5.00Highly recommend! My expectations were exceeded. We stopped at 3 waterfalls, Rowena Crest, Hood River for lunch and Timberline Lodge. The snacks were perfect and came in handy. Sam was very knowledgeable as our tour guide!

4.00We have a very good tour with Cher. She was very knowledgeable and informative. We maybe wish we could have stayed longer at Mount Hood. But overall, it was a good experience.

5.00Took this amazing full day tour, we were picked up on exactly on time from our hotel in central Portland by our wonderful guide Cher who went above and beyond to make the excursion truly memorable. She had excellent knowledge of the area and was really engaging throughout the whole experience. As we were a relatively small group she was happy to tailor the day to our various interests and this tour was definitely one of the most enjoyable days of our entire holiday. Would definitely recommend.

5.00We had a really great tour with Halle as our guide. The communication was great prior to the tour and the morning of about where and when to meet. As it turned out, our party were the only guests on the tour, which made it very relaxing and easy to ask questions. Halle was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and sites we saw on the tour. We had plenty of time at all stops to enjoy that stop. Would highly recommend this tour.

5.00I enjoyed the tour. We only have 3 travelers in the tour. So it was a small group. Our guide was Halle. She was very knowlegdeable and fun to talk to. The path followed was good; we hit all the main spots (Mt Hood, some Sno area (forgot the name), the Draper Girls farm, Hood River, the Columbia Gorge view, Multnomak falls). The views were awesome and we were lucky that the weather was wonderful that day. Could have stayed in the parking lot of the Timberline Lodge (maybe just circle around the parking lot a few times until the travelers look around), and gotten more time to view Mt. Hood up close. The glass on the windows of the van wasn't cleaned properly. Also, I think the tour description mentioned snacks, but we weren't offered any.

5.00Halle showed us a spectacular time on this tour. It is well worth every penny! We were the only people on the tour in the morning, however extremely knowledgeable, audio tour of the area, got to make stops and take great photos, and had a wonderful time. I cannot recommend this company enough!

5.00My husband and I were the only participants of this tour, and Halle took exceptional care of us. This tour provided us a multitude of scenic stops to take some great photos. Halle was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, a terrific driver and an all around excellent tour guide. We definitely will use this travel company again!

4.00We were doing "our own" road trip of OR & WA and decided to book this tour. It was worth the time and price! What we especially liked was that it was a mini bus, i.e., just us and one other couple, very personal and informative. Besides the STANDARD places to see, our guide (who was a Portland local,) shared EXTRA "what you may want to see" places, e.g. secret waterfall path and history e.g., story of Fremont neighborhood. If you are in Portland and want to "leave the driving to us," we thoroughly recommend this tour. P.S. One special note ... While the season was over, my request to visit a Lavender Farm was added. What a treat!
