Museo de Sitio y Santuario Arqueologico de Pachacamac
We will visit the Acllawasi “Temple of the Virgins of the Sun” sacred enclosure where women selected for their manual, culinary skills or physical beauty lived and worked, and who were in the service of the Inca empire. The Acllawasi de Pachacamac was one of the largest and most important on the coast. We will also appreciate the different buildings that are part of this impressive place, buildings of cultures such as Lima, Wari, Ichma and Quechua, which left testimony of their ingenuity and ability to survive in a territory as adverse as the coastal desert. As soon as we visit the sacred sites at the bottom of the sanctuary, we will head for an elevated ramp that will take us to the “Temple of the Sun”, Pachacamac’s jewel. Finally we will border “The Temple of the Sun” or “Punchao kancha”, built of adobes and considered probably the largest temple on the entire coast, representing a great effort of organization for its construction.
