Explore the magnificent lava tunnel Raufarhólshellir, one of the longest and best-known lava tubes in Iceland. Located just 30-40 minutes from Reykjavík, the tunnel is easily accessible year round. Discover the inner workings of a volcanic eruption and walk along the path where lava flowed during the Leitahraun eruption, which occurred approximately 5200 years ago. Our tour is approximately one hour whereas platforms and lights have been incorporated - making the experience of visiting the cave simply breathtaking. The tour includes all necessary equipment. Choose your preferred departure time upon booking. Please note that this tour does not include pick up and is for self driving passengers only.

Our tour is approximately one hour whereas platforms and lights have been incorporated - making the experience of visiting the cave simply breathtaking. The tour difficulty is rated as easy, although guests need to walk over uneven surfaces and up and down stairs. Helmets and headlamps are provided and the guests go in a group with an English speaking guide who provides information about the unique geological features inside the Tunnel.

4.00The Lava tube itself is beautiful and our guide Dimitri was great. He explained a lot and was funny. I get the feeling though that the price for a few hundred meters walk is a bit too much, even considering that Iceland is in general very expensive. But do it anyway when you are in the area. Even if you did Vatnshellir before because that cave there is different from the tube here.

1.00I booked it. Then realized there was no bus going there. I don't have a car rental. The taxi there and back would be 250.00 USD. Called them 2 hours later to ask for refund. I was told no, that I could book it at another show giving me time to figure out how to get there. I will dispute the charge with my bank when I gwt home. Horrible service.

1.00Did not show up. Says it’s arriving 12:30, did not show up after waiting for over an hour. Agency told us that the service provider (The Lava Tunnel) said they have “sudden issues” and will be late without specifying the time.

5.00The hour long lava tunnel experience was great. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, he even stayed behind a few extra minutes, chatting about all the different features of the tunnel. The walk itself was fairly easy, as advertised. We went during winter time so it was a small group. Highly recommend!
