• A perfect long-weekend escape into the belly of Yangon’s food and market scene

  I work in hospitality, I travel constantly for work, and I’m not easily impressed by “tours.” This, however, was something else. I flew in from Bangkok with a couple of friends for a quick food-fuelled escape and booked Sa Ba’s trishaw food tour and market tour over 2 days , almost as a filler activity. It ended up being the absolute highlight of the weekend. Marc gets it. He understands how to pace an experience, read a group, and tell the story of a city through what you eat and who’s cooking it. From the first teahouse stop—sweet, milky tea in enamel cups, crispy snacks, and that slow exhale as you drop into Yangon’s rhythm—to Shan noodles, mohinga, salads loaded with garlic and tea leaves, cold beers and sticky Indian desserts, everything felt intentional but never scripted. Rolling between stops by trishaw was just fun. You’re at street level, in the noise and heat, close enough to the action to smell the grills before you see them. It’s the kind of thing that could easily feel gimmicky, but with Marc’s team it didn’t; it just felt like the most natural way to move through the city. What really stood out to me, as someone in the business, was the genuine relationships Marc and his crew clearly have with their vendors and drivers. No forced “local experience,” no awkward hard sells—just people who actually like and respect each other, doing their thing and letting you into it for a night. Huge thank you to Marc and his team of trishaw drivers for an unforgettable weekend touring the belly of this city. If you’re in Yangon and you care even a little about food and culture, this is absolutely worth your time.

  The tour is excellent way to get to know Yangon, however long you have been here. Each of the markets are very different, very interesting with great opportunities for photos. The food was lovely. The guides are very knowledgeable and welcoming.
