Come join us for an adventure where you are personally guided around the highlands by a born and bred highland lass and fully qualified experienced tour guide
Join us as we venture South taking in Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns, Cawdor Castle (Urquhart Castle if closed) Loch Ness, Wardlaw Mausoleum, Highland Cows and perhaps even Jamie Fraser if you are lucky.
Avoid the hustle and bustle of a larger coach group and tour round the highlands in our 16 seat minibus.
We try to get the most out of your day out so departure times will start 9am.
While some of the tours are not wheelchair friendly, we try our best to accommodate.
WHEELCHAIR USERS & STROLLERS
We DO REQUIRE NOTICE, as we are restricted on luggage space we need to know in advance if you are taking walking aids/pushchairs with you on any of our tours.

Dare you touch the stones? We are not covered by insurance if you head back in time to 1746. Come visit the stones where it all started for Outlander. At over 4000 years old they have some stories to tell.
Culloden Battlefield
The highland life forever changed on this very field back in 16th April 1746 where the last pitched battle was fought between the Hanoverian soldiers and fated Jacobites. We guide you on this special tour of the fated site.

5.00We had an amazing day in the Highlands with Lorraine from Avril's Travels. She made us feel welcome right away and tailored the trip to us. Our daughter, a big Outlander fan, loved visiting filming spots – especially the stone where Claire travels through time. We also stopped at Loch Ness to look for Nessie while Lorraine shared fascinating stories about Scottish history and legends. Her warmth, knowledge, and flexibility made the day relaxed, fun, and unforgettable. Highly recommend Avril’s Travels and Lorraine!

5.00We had a wonderful day and tour of the Highlands with Avril. Our tour was about 7 hours long. Avril explained all about the beautiful sights she took us to and also about living in Scotland. We highly recommend this tour!

5.00Just got through taking a tour with Avril & her daughter. We had a lovely day!! This tour was well run, professional, full of information & stories. Avril is a local lassie & funny. She made sure to get us back to our ship on time. So don’t hesitate booking her independent tour.

5.00Avril of Avril's Travels took us on an excellent tour of the areas around Invergordon. We visited Cawdor Castle, the Cairns, Culloden Battlefield, Loch Ness, and visited the Highland Coos. We saw a LOT in one day! Arvil is a great guide and made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. We chose this tour over the one offered on the Princess cruise ship and are so glad that we did!!

5.00We had an outstanding tour of the Highlands with Lorraine at Avril's Travels. She was knowledgeable, entertaining and a skilled driver. The scenery was amazing and we learned so much of the history of the area. We had a blast! We highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide Lorraine was absolutely fantastic – she shared so many interesting stories with us and was incredibly flexible and spontaneous when it came to accommodating our wishes. Her passion, knowledge, and warm personality truly made the tour special. We felt well taken care of and enjoyed every moment – and we never had to worry about getting back to the ship on time, everything was perfectly planned. 5.00Avril is an amazing guide. She is personal, professional, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. She helped me enjoy my day tour with her and offered some flexibility in the agenda based on some things I shared. I highly recommend her services. Not your cookie cutter guide! She takes pride in her country and history and it shows!

5.00I was in Invergordon on the cruise ship in July. Avril picked me up from the ship and brought me back on time. Since no one but me had booked the trip, I was alone with Avril. It was a wonderful day. together we visited Culloden Battlefield, Cawdor Castle and Clava Cairns. Finally there was time to visit a small farm. Avril told many interesting things about history and the present, in a humorous way. I also got to meet her beautiful daughter. Overall, one of the most beautiful shore excursions on this tour.
