The Real Tour of Communism will take you through all of the major aspects regarding the life under communist rule in Romania which lasted officially from 1948 to 1989.
The Communism era was marked by the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu who ruled Romania for most of this period (1965-1989).
We will discover the landmarks of the Communist era to understand how the city's architecture was influenced and changed for ever. But also the former locations of the Secret Police where Romanians were interrogated and tortured too.
The tour ends in the Revolution Square where Nicolae Ceausescu had his last speech on Dec 21st 1989 few days before he was executed together with his wife.

Excellent and informative walking tour in Bucharest

5.00Another excellent and informative walking tour around Bucharest. Our guide Octavian took us round the city and pointed out the parts that demonstrated what life had been like under Communism, mainly under Ceasescu. It was hugely informative and built on my understanding of Bucharest from doing the walking tour of the Old Town a couple of days before. Octavian was able to convey memories of his childhood growing up under communism and relate the history to us from a Romanian perspective. It was an interesting and passionate tour and definitely worth it.

5.00Had a great experience and tour with Andreea . very in-depth and even gave examples of personal experiences . Weather was terrible but cannot be controlled however Andreea made it worth being out in the rain . She was great and would do the tour again and to gain more insight from Andreeas history and experiences of Communism .

5.00Highly recommend. Andreea is a terrific guide. She is very knowledgeable and also very upbeat and friendly. We especially appreciated the stories she shared about her family’s experiences under communism. Our weather was not the best- cold and rainy- but we enjoyed the tour so much we didn’t mind, and Andreea did a great job getting us out of the rain when she could.

5.00This was a great tour with Octavian. So much information around the communist time in Bucharest that was totally unaware of. I would recommend this tour to any visitor who wants to dig deeper into Bucharests communist past.

5.00Mihai was very knowledgeable and was open to all questions during the tour. The tour size of 10 people was perfect. I would highly recommend this tour, especially at beginning of trip to familiarize yourself with the history of Bucharest.

5.00Mihai our tour guide was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Romanian communist era both historically and from a personal perspective. The tour was very well paced and we enjoyed the spring sunshine.

5.00A lovely guide. Very friendly. Very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.. I travelled with 2 Romanians who themselves learnt so much about their history. If you have any interest in Romanias communist past, you must take this tour.
