Eilean Donan Castle
Our first stop is at the iconic Eilean Donan Castle. This castle is instantly recognisable the world-over as it has featured in many films and innumerable Scottish souvenirs! We will stop at our favourite vantage point here to enable you to take some photos and admire the majestic beauty of this iconic sight in its wonderful coastal location. Please note that there will NOT be an opportunity to visit the castle.
Portree
Upon arrival in Portree your guide will point you in the direction of the harbour viewpoint; from here you can admire the pretty pastel-coloured houses that the town is famous for. With its quirky shops, cute cafes, picturesque location and interesting sights you will certainly find plenty to occupy you during our 45 minute stop here. This will be your opportunity to purchase lunch from one of the town's bakeries or yummy takeaways.

Seats are tight. I’m only 5’10”, 200lb male and was uncomfortable all 8 hours riding. Both knees firmly into the seat in front of me. The window seat is worse. Remove a row of seats and give everybody 3” more leg space. With all the rain, bring a towel or something because there is nothing to dry anything with if you get wet. The scenery and stops were fantastic. Story telling guide was terrific and made up for a lot of the above.

Well done to our guide Murdoch for a thoroughly entertaining, informative, and enjoyable day around the isle of Skye! Not only did he keep time moving between stops with lively anecdotes and fun facts, but he also did his best to accommodate individual requests, such as stopping briefly by a flock of sheep so that the group could take pictures. Murdoch clearly knows and loves the Highlands very well, and this made the trip feel special. He provided insider tips (such as directing us to 'The Lump' in Portree, a secluded spot above the town providing great views), and also clearly has a warm relationship with local businesses: we were able to order delicious lunches from Liza and the Skye Baking Co. at the start of our tour (which included gluten-free and vegetarian options), and I had the best coffee in Scotland at Skyeskyns. Murdoch was also kind enough to share some of his and family's personal connections to the Highlands, which really brought his accounts of the history of the area alive. Very glad to have taken this tour!

We give the Isle of Skye tour and our tour-guide Andrew a 5-star rating. The design of the tour provided a good balance of driving and stops at scenic locations with ample time to walk about and take pictures. Andrew was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Scotland and the Isle of Skye and presented in an engaging manner that made the time on the bus seem to pass quickly. We also give our highest rating to the Isle of Skye Baking Company, where we stopped for lunch.
