Shinjuku, one of Tokyo’s busiest areas, can be overwhelming with its endless options and crowds. Hidden local gems are often missed—tucked away from the guidebooks and hard to find without Japanese.

We begin at a hidden sushi restaurant, where a skilled Itamae prepares fresh, beautiful sushi before your eyes. Next, we head to a Yakiniku spot near Shinjuku West or Kabuki-cho to grill mouthwatering Wagyu beef on traditional Japanese BBQ stoves.
As we stroll through neon-lit Kabuki-cho, the tour wraps up at a local snack bar or cozy bar, with dessert or a drink to finish. You’ll leave full, happy, and with a deeper appreciation of Tokyo’s culinary scene.

2.00I had high expectations for this tour as my first one after arriving in Tokyo the day before, but I wasn't impressed. Our tour guide was certainly nice, but in summary we met just outside Omoide Yokocho (the small alleys where a lot of izakayas are located that only seat about 5-10 people) and then walked a few blocks away to a sushi restaurant on a higher floor in a building. It was ok, but I we had a while to go before the next reservation. Our guide took us by the Kabukicho (Godzilla head is there), and then we went inside that tower to just see a boy band perform and walk upstairs to pass by all the arcade games...something cool to see, but a waste of time in my opinion considering this was a tour focused on food. We could have done an izakaya or something similar for a quick bite of something else as an in-between stop. Finally we went to the wagyu restaurant, another place that was on a higher level of a building (very common in Tokyo, nothing wrong with that)...but the portion size was disappointing, especially thinking about the price I paid for the tour. You can see in the photo that this was all the meat we received for 4 people to share...so basically one of each kind of meat. As a guy, I could have easily ate all of that myself. During this time our guide didn't really speak much with us, we were split into 1 group of 4 and another of 3, so we basically chatted amongst ourselves. At the end of this tour the group I was sitting with all agreed that we didn't get as much food as we had hoped for, and we went out to find some more wagyu beef in the area. The reviews seem very positive for this tour, hence why I booked it, so I was surprised that our experience just wasn't as good, nor was the price I paid worth it.

5.00This was an excellent walking and food tour and our guide Yuki was exceptional! A great guide and very knowledgeable who made sure we had a fun time in Shinjuku! Would highly recommend Yuki and this tour to whoever is visiting Tokyo anytime and if you need both vegetarian and non vegetarian options in one tour. The tour ending at an all you can eat candy bar was the highlight for us! So unique! Also appreciate Yuki’s colleague Miki who accompanied us and ensured we had a great time too! Wishing Miki good luck for her future tour guide assignments!

5.00We had just arrived from US and went straight out for this tour. Our guide was so informative and made a point of keeping my 14 yr old engaged. I thorough enjoyed our conversations about Japan, Shinjuku and of course, the food.
