Your guide will share insights beyond any guidebook, showing you both Tokyo’s rich history and its modern highlights. Popular spots may include Shinjuku Gyoen, the world-famous Shibuya Crossing, and more. We’ll mainly use public transportation, so please have some yen ready.
Imperial Palace
This tour does not include access to the inside of the Imperial Palace. Entry is limited to certain public areas. The current Imperial Palace is located on the former site of Edo Castle, a vast park surrounded by moats and impressive stone walls in the middle of Tokyo, just a short walk from Tokyo Station. Today, it serves as the residence of Japan’s Imperial Family. The scenery is stunning, and it provides a refreshing contrast to the busy city streets nearby. The spacious gardens and wide open spaces create a calm, peaceful atmosphere. Please keep in mind that the park is quite large, with a number of slopes and inclines, so some walking can be a little tiring.

Toko was the tour guide.. She is outstanding. We visited the Meiji shrine which is beautiful and full of rituals. And on the day that we were there, we were fortunate to see a traditional Japanese pre-wedding ceremony. It is an ancient tradition that does not happen too often, all dependent on coordination of a day of the month, the number of the month, and many other things that I don’t quite understand. In addition, I was able to learn about some of the other rituals in the shrine area and its significance to Japanese culture. We then explored the fascinating Shibuya crossing which as I understand it, is the busiest intersection in the world. It is quite an amazing site. Our next stop was the Kubuki theater, which has a long history, and the production company members are born into the theater. As Toko explained, it’s like English in a Shakespeare production but the language they use is Japanese, but ancient. It can be very difficult to understand for Japanese, but it is part of the culture and history. We also visited the Ginza area which is full of luxurious brands, international and national, and brings many tourists to the area. As I understand it, many Chinese come just to this district to buy quality and prestigious brands. Toko took me to an excellent lunch place and fortunately, she was able to guide me on what the menu said. It was an excellent meal. Our final place was the zojoji temple. Toko’s family has a stone Memorial in the temple area as the family has been super active in the whole temple zone. It was so interesting to experience it, especially with someone who actually has actively participates in the temple and the surrounding areas. In addition to all of the above, Toko took me to an excellent coffee place, which appears to be on the radar of many locals and foreigners as the coffee was as good as I’ve had in Seattle, USA Toko speaks excellent English and is super interesting. I learned so much about the Japanese lifestyle, values, and cultural insights. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I had all kinds of questions and Toko was able to answer in detail to my numerous inquiries. She is a great observer of Japanese society and culture and it was such a pleasure to spend the day with her. If you are looking for a tour guide in Tokyo for a day of exploration, Toko is outstanding and I strongly recommend her.

We had such an amazing time on the Tokyo Morning Tour with Rina! She was super friendly, easy to talk to, and shared really interesting stories about the shrines and temples in a fun and natural way. The pace was perfect, and she answered all our questions while also giving us great local tips that made the rest of our trip even better. Definitely a great introduction to Tokyo—we’d highly recommend it, especially with Rina as your guide!

Such a great tour! Our guide Toko reached out before the tour to get a sense of what we wanted to see and do, and crafted a plan that allowed us to see many of the tourist highlights of Tokyo while also experiencing local life and Japanese culture. We learned so much and had a lot of fun. We’ve travelled a lot, and Toko is one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had! She’s friendly and knowledgeable and provided context for many of the sites we’d seen earlier in our trip. I wish we’d been able to start our visit to Japan with Toko instead of doing this tour at the end of our trip.

Since it was a private tour it was tailored for you but can be changed. Yuki was a wonderful guide, accommodating & very helpful especially when it came to purchasing tickets for the train.

It's tailored for you, unfortunately a lot of walking & taking the train. Be ready to buy tickets or if staying long in Tokyo, invest in an IC card.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day in Tokyo with Yuki. She had such a great attitude and made everything feel easy and fun right from the start. She was thoughtful, flexible, and always there to support us throughout the day. She also took us to a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the city—something we would have never found on our own—which made the experience even more special. During our conversations, she remembered that we loved ramen and took us to one of her favorite local spots for lunch. It was a place filled with locals, and it truly felt like an authentic experience. Thanks to her, we were able to start our first day in Tokyo in such a special and memorable way. We really appreciated everything she did for us!

We loved having Toko as our tour guide!! She was awesome, showed us exactly what we wanted to see (temples and shrines in Tokyo) and more! She also recommended some great restaurant to check out, which we ended up doing and even other places she told us to see. Tour was 100% worth it especially if you have never been to Japan before. Thanks, Toko!

Yuki was great. She took time to customize the whole day as per my interest, was thoughtful, informative and kind. We visited multiple shrines, temples, markets and she had good suggestions. The tour operator was helpful as well aas I had booked 8 hour version which wasn’t available. I was offered refund for that.

My family and I did a tour with Toko who expertly led a day full of fun, learnings and core memories. ☺️ Prior to our meet-up, she was very responsive and committed to planning an itinerary that incorporated many of the moments we requested and those she thought we’d enjoy (given our various interests as a group of adults and tweens). Thank you, Toko! Highly recommend!
