Hello! This is Eva from Eva Kestner International Taiko Drum Academy.

I am a professional and accomplished taiko drummer and instructor.

I was the founder and first musical directorof Cornell University's Taiko Drumming group, I have received the excellency award from the Tokyo University of Arts New Artists Competition, and my original music is now published by Harper Collins and Cambridge International Curriculum.

Experience the wonderful Japanese taiko drums through a 90 minute workshop where I will be teaching the taiko drums in English. We will go through the foundation training, rhythm training, and learn a traditional and contemporary taiko drumming piece. I will also give a short performance and brief taiko drumming history explanation.

Furthermore, you will receive a personalized video of you playing the taiko drums.

This is a boutique style, intimate, and authentic taiko drumming experience you will never forget.

For groups larger than 20 PAX, please book the large group slot, and the location will be 20 minutes from Shibuya.

This was a super fun and energizing activity! You are taught some basic drumming beats, and then do two sets of recorded drumming numbers. One as practice and one of a traditional drum numbers. Our instructor was super friendly. Took her time with us. The group was small and I think it benefited for that. She even took extra time because I’m left handed and had to do everything the reverse of what she was teaching. A note, pay attention to her pre-arrival note! She says to bring water and wear loose clothing! That is not a joke. Also the studio is warm so make sure you aren’t over dressed. You will sweat no matter what! I had a great time and I don’t even like exercising like some do but this was definitely a work out!

What a great time. Eva is so talented and energetic. We all had a fantastic time and would recommend this to anyone. Note:-it may look easy but trust me you really have to concentrate. We enjoyed every minute. Huge credit to Eva we sounded awesome!

Eva is amazing! Percussion teach here. Eva is a skilled taiko drummer, very prepared to work with all ages and for teaching novice-intermediate rhythms. Fun workout and extremely authentic workshop!

If you want one heck of a taiko class, this is it. Eva was an excellent instructor and explained all the different rhythms, drums and had us perform in a 90 minute class. It was a great workout as you’re constantly moving and learning. We all performed together and at no point did anybody feel embarrassed. She speaks fluent English and her experience shows in her teaching. Make sure to bring water as it is a bit of an exercise. I felt like I learned a lot about the art of Taiko and wish I brought friends.

Had a great time. We started playing almost right away which was perfect- plenty of time for questions etc afterwards. I would definitely recommend.

We had a lot of fun and learned a lot. Eva was a very encouraging and patient teacher. We were a group of total beginners and it was a great little taste of Japanese culture.

We loved this Taiko experience! We are two parents and two teenagers (15 and 17). The class lasted an hour and a half or so. The instructor first taught us the basics of Taiko and then after a short break, we had a chance to learn and play a traditional song. We all had a lot of fun and learned quite a bit, including some choreography! Our instructor is a world class Taiko drummer, and she also had an apprentice - both were great teachers/helpers and patient too! Recommend this class especially for music lovers and for anyone looking for a unique experience in Tokyo!

It was a great experience, lots of fun! It can get a bit loud, but that's part of the fun. Our youngest got some blisters on her hands, it might be a good idea to bring some Band-Aids just in case.
