One way transfers from the end point (Ketetahi) to the start of the Crossing (Mangatepopo). Free, secure all day parking. This is the popular hassle free and cheapest option if you have your own car. You will do the 6-8 hour hike back to your car in the car park which is located a short walk from the end of the Tongariro Crossing. No need for afternoon shuttle transfers. Bookings: DOC require all visitors to book/notify in advance, (free of charge) if you are walking the TAC. Head to the DOC website for more information and to complete the form. This needs to be done prior to departure and preferably before you book a shuttle. You will need to show proof to the driver.

Bus ride too expensive Walk was good And the weather was good No toilet paper in the toilets And unclear on how far apart are the toilets when you suggest we don’t use outdoors for toilet

The shuttle service was efficient, the drivers and organisers very pleasant with good safety and local information given on the way. A slight niggle, I texted the number 2 days prior to the shuttle to confirm and didnt hear back.

Don't go in a blizzard, pick your day. However, the walk is insane and would highly recommend it, I will be going back again on a nice day

Just get the first shuttle and beat the traffic on the trail. Park at the end so you do t need to wait for the return shuttle

Convenient location. Busses queue up and load as you arrive. Minimal wait. Don’t forget that there is another km to get to car park from the trail end

very easy to find pick up spot, walk from end of hike back to carpark was a little over 1mile. make sure to know your car tag number and tour operator before getting on a shuttle

Very easy and convenient transport option to the start of the Tongariro Crossing. Good parking facilities. A bit pricey for a half hour bus ride though. Definitely recommend to other travellers however.

Easy shuttle good parking facilities, queue went down very quickly and ice cream and drink cart open for the return! Great experience could just do with some nicer toilets.
