Garni Temple
Discover Garni, Armenia's most iconic Hellenistic temple! Dating back to the 1st century AD, this magnificent structure boasts stunning classical architecture and is surrounded by a dramatic mountainous backdrop. But Garni's history is not just about the temple itself. Unfortunately, a devastating earthquake in 1679 caused the temple's colonnade to collapse, leaving it in ruins. However, the scattered masonry and ornamental friezes remained, allowing for the temple to be reconstructed to its former glory. Now, visitors can explore the stunning temple, marvel at the intricate carvings and mosaics, and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Don't forget to check out the nearby 7th-century church and the Arabic and Armenian inscriptions that tell the story of Garni's rich and varied history.
Garni Gorge
Garni Gorge is a natural wonder in the Azat River basin and is home to the "Symphony of Stones" or "Basalt Organ." This awe-inspiring natural monument is included in the list of RA's natural landmarks and features gigantic hexagonal and pentagonal basalt columns that rise nearly 50 meters high. These majestic columns appear to be carved by hand, and their remarkable symmetry is truly breathtaking. The stones, suspended against gravity, resemble the pipes of a magnificent organ, which is why it is also known as the "Basalt Organ Pipes." The sound of flowing water from the Azat River only adds to the magical experience of this natural wonder. Visitors can explore the gorge and marvel at the stunning views of the "Symphony of Stones" while listening to the enchanting melody of the river. Don't miss the opportunity to witness this unique and unforgettable sight during your visit to Garni.
The Monastery of Geghard
Welcome to Geghard Monastery, one of the most fascinating cultural and historical landmarks in Armenia! This ancient monastery, nestled in the heart of the mountains, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts visitors from all over the world. Geghard Monastery was founded in the 4th century, and its name means "spear" in Armenian, referring to the spear that was used to wound Jesus on the cross. The monastery is renowned for its unique architecture, which combines Armenian traditional building techniques with innovative medieval designs, creating an extraordinary blend of ancient and modern styles. As you explore the monastery, you will be amazed by the intricate carvings, ancient inscriptions, and beautiful frescoes that adorn the walls and ceilings of the chapels and churches. One of the highlights of the monastery is the Holy Lance Chapel, which houses the spear that is believed to have wounded Jesus.
Charent's Arch
Driving on the picturesque Yerevan-Garni highway, you'll come across an unmissable sight on your right: the Charents Arch. This stunning monument, named after the legendary Armenian poet and patriot Yeghishe Charents, is a must-see for anyone visiting Armenia. While the stone arch may appear simple at first glance, it's actually a fascinating landmark with an interesting history. The architect Rafael Israelian was so struck by the breathtaking view of the majestic Mount Ararat from the hill in the village of Voghjaberd that he decided to build an arch there. The Arch of Charents, also known as the Arch of Ararat, stands at an altitude of 1500 meters and is a popular attraction for tourists visiting Armenia. Not only does the arch offer a stunning panoramic view of Mount Ararat all day long, but it's also included in the list of historical and cultural landmarks of Voghjaberd.

This tour is such a great way to see Armenia in a short amount of time! The itinerary of the trip allows you get to see significant cultural/historical sites without feeling rushed (keeping in mind that some flexibility is needed with the border crossing from Georgia to Armenia and back because the lines can vary and are out of the tour company's control). I really enjoyed the locations we visited, and my guide Aleksi always made sure I understood both the plan for each day and the history of each location we visited. I also appreciated his flexibility, allowing me to visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan. You also arrive in Yerevan with enough time to go walk around (with or without your guide) and have a nice dinner.

This tour is truly the best way to see Armenia in a short period of time. In just two days we saw the majestic Lake Sevan, the quaint spa town of Dilijan, a few historic monasteries and explored the vibrant city of Yerevan. Our guide Aleksi was wonderful and made the whole experience so enjoyable. We learnt so much from him about both Georgia and Armenia. Crossing the border was made very quick and easy with his help. Highly recommend this tour to anyone wishing to visit Armenia from Georgia as there is truly no other tour like it.

Absolutely lovely excursion to Yerevan via Lake Sevan and Dilijan. The scenery on the drive to Khor Virap alone was worth the effort! Aleksi is an awesome guide and excellent driver. I definitely recommend devoting the extra day to get to Yerevan if you are in Georgia and want to see a bit of Armenia. Lake Sevan is beautiful, but the view of Mount Ararat on the drive to Khor Virap is even better. The Genocide Museum is powerful and contains so much information (in Armenian, Russian, English, and French). See the place where Armenia became a Christian nation and enjoy good food and a great dip into the country's rich history.
