Caique Bom Sucesso

A replica of the boat that, in 1808, crossed the Atlantic Ocean carrying 19 (the official number) fishermen from Olhão to Brazil, where the king of Portugal was in refuge. The mission was to inform the king that the Napoleonic invader had retreated due to the bravery of irregular troops composed of fishermen and peasants from the Olhão area, with the support of a few Portuguese soldiers who had remained during the invasions. The boat is located in front of Olhão Markets, which is the main public fish market in the Algarve. This market, which also includes a building for the sale of agricultural products, was constructed in 1908 to mark the centenary of Olhão's elevation to town status. This was, in fact, another reason for the journey of Bom Sucesso caique to Brazil: to demand from the king the administrative autonomy of Olhão from Faro.

Good guide old reliable boat beautiful waters, slow boat, islets nice but not startling. But still through the stories of the guide worthwhile

Excellent afternoon touring Rio Formaaa in a traditional small wooden boat and visiting 2 Islands. Skipper Felipe was great. Very friendly, knowledgeable of the area and it's history.

We were Filipe’s only customers so spent a really enjoyable afternoon listening to him speak so passionately about the natural area around the islands and how they farm the clams and oysters. The time spent on the very pretty islands was just right (45 minutes on each ) and Filipe was helpful and attentive. I would definitely recommend Neptune Tours and especially Filipe. Try to book at the little kiosk by the jetty as it’s cheaper than going online.

Absolutely fabulous day and flavio was very informative and friendly ,we loved the whole day . Was told it would be around 3.30hrs trip, but we were out for over 4 and can't say a bad thing about it xx

A wonderful afternoon Our guide was friendly, thoughtful and informative. The trip was well paced, we had time to explore on both islands , questions were encouraged but there was also time to relax and enjoy the experience. Value for money and I would recommend it .
