Our instructor was so kind and patient with us while learning about traditional book binding ~ we were able to create a beautiful memento and one of a kind souvenir and most importantly - a mother - daughter wonderful memory that is priceless. She also took pictures throughout the session and sent them to us! Thank you so much!

What a magical journey this class was! I learned authentic book binding methods that were used in the Joseon era from a wonderfully sweet teacher. The finished product became a wonderful scrapbook for my Korean journey.

The bookbinding class was the highlight of my trip to Seoul! The instructor was kind, bright, and informative. She demonstrated each step clearly and simply. She also took pictures and gave the historical and cultural background of the binding process for us while we worked! The materials and tools are high quality. The inner paper is Korea’s famous long-lasting Hanji paper. The cover is a sturdy and soft fabric. They have a varied selection for choosing your cover, binding string, and tassel. The physical work involved includes folding, pricking, scoring, hammering, gluing, and threading. All of the work is completed sitting down, indoors, with AC. In other workshops I’ve done, the instructor completes the project while I’ve assisted. However this is not the case at Danchoodan. They ensure you can do it on your own, so you leave with a feeling of accomplishment in addition to your book

This workshop was a great experience. I had so much fun with my sister. The instructor was so kind, calm and explained what we had to do really well. Before starting the workshop, I was worried that the class didn't include many steps however, there were many things to complete. The whole process was fun and meaningful. I would definitely recommend this workshop !!

This workshop was definitely a highlight of my time in Seoul, thank you so much to the danchoodan team!!! It was really fun and engaging from the get-go, and the instructor Jinhee was so patient and encouraging every step of the way 🥰 My favourite part is how hands-on the session was; you really are doing everything yourself, with support from the teacher. A really relaxing and enjoyable experience where you get to learn so much - 100% recommended, and I adore my new notebook!
