On this private tour, we’ll take you on the most affordable journey to hike to the crater of Santa Ana Volcano, also known as Ilamatepec Volcano.
We’ll pick you up from your hotel and drive you directly to the starting point of the hike. You’ll hike to the summit with a local guide. The entire hike takes about 3.5 hours, including 30 minutes at the summit to enjoy the breathtaking views of the crater and the surrounding natural beauty. After the hike, we’ll take you straight back to your hotel. (If you want to visit an additional place we can personalize your tour).
This tour includes private transportation from your hotel to the trailhead, and we'll make sure you get back to your hotel once the hike is done.
At the trailhead, you'll get some basic instructions and be grouped with 7 to 15 people, led by a certified guide from the national park.
The hike is easy to follow—just stick with your group along the clearly marked path. The guide is required because it's a park rule.

5.00The 6:30 AM pickup was right on time, getting us there by 8:30 AM. A heads-up: a $4/person tour guide fee is collected upon arrival, which was unexpected as the activity advertises 'full guidance.' The park entrance fee is $3. Despite this, the hike itself was fantastic! Reaching the top in 90 minutes through diverse terrain like jungle, forest, and lava rocks was well worth it. Don't miss the ice cream at the top of the crater, perfect after the climb!

5.00A stress-free way to see the volcano. I actually tried to see the volcano the week before, but the guides were all taken when I had arrived. This tour will ensure tings go smoothly, and the transportation was wonderful (private transportation in a new, very comfortable pick-up truck). Driver was very friendly and well-organized (showed up on time and sent me his live location on Whatsapp as he drove to get us! Smart).
