A two hour drive along the scenic North Coast past the villages of Maracas & Blanchisseuse will bring us to the starting point of the hike: a tiny village in the remote rainforest. This hike is easy and takes approximately 45 minutes one way. You hike along and inside a shallow river to the most amazing waterfall of approximately 65 ft, with a large plunge pool for bathing. After some relaxing time on the big rocks or a refreshing bath - with a nice head-massage from the falls - you then return to the base. Basic changing facilities are provided. You are then taken to the popular Maracas Beach for a delicious "Bake & Fish" sandwich (not included in cost) and another swim (optional).

Maracas Bay
After a short drive through the city of Port of Spain and suburbs we reach the scenic North Coast Road in the Northern Range. Here, admire a stunning view of the Paramin hills and lush rainforest. Upon reaching the Caribbean Sea we take a 10 minute stop at the Maracas Lookout which offers a spectacular view of the ocean.Delicious local snacks are on sale here (not inclyded in cost). A short drive brings us to t the most popular beach in Trinidad, Maracas Bay, surrounded by lush green rainforest-covered mountains and lined with coconut trees.
Avocat Waterfall
Continuing our drive past the even more peaceful Las Cuevas Bay, we drive through Blanchisseuse, a long picturesque village, before reaching our final destination: a tiny village in the rainforest (approx. 2 hours drive total). We walk through the rainforest to a small river where we cross. We then hike along a flat riverbed, admiring the natural beauty surrounding us. We then reach the amazing 65 feet waterfall with a big bathing pool. The cool atmosphere is ideal for relaxing and taking a bath in the plunge pool. Let the waterfall-spray massage your shoulders! This seems to be the picture-book waterfall that you may have already seen it in your dreams!

5.00In all my world travels over the last 20 years, our tour guide, Denton, was by far, one of the best top two! He was kind, patient, professional, funny, and full of knowledge! The tour was about our comfortability, as he gave options to do one thing or another (i.e. walk in the river or walk on the path). His stories were great, as he has obviously made friends with the forest, they share much history. If I were to visit trinidad again, I would take this tour with Denton over and over again.

4.00My friend and I did this tour, and we had a good time. I believe what made our experience fun was our tour guide. I am not sure how to spell our guide's name, but he really made sure we made the most of our time. We went during the perfect time. It wasn't crowded, the atmosphere was fun and relaxing, and the overall time we spent was just perfect. The walk to the waterfall requires being somewhat flexible because of the terrain and the climbing. This tour is best for anyone a bit active. If you are not, you may not enjoy this. The price was a bit up there, but I won't talk about that because I still had a good time.

5.00Perfect hike through small river and trails, to beautiful waterfall with small swimming hole. You need to swim across a part of the river, or climb up rocks to get to the waterfall. Our kids aged 7-12 were fine with the hike. Wear sneakers, they will get wet but it will be worth it.

5.00The trip was amazing. Our tour guide Derrem brought us good vibes. The views was amazing, and a time was had. The hike was on the easier side and the beach was a nice way to end the excursion.
Fun filled hiking experience

5.00Fun filled hiking experience: view points, winding mountain roads, local sweets and snacks, cool trail along riverbed, waterfall, beach time… One should note that hiking in the Caribbean is wild…need to be on all fours at times, wade through hip deep water, use a rope to pull yourself up or get yourself down… Guide was very helpful, tells you where to step to avoid slipping - I did slip once and fell in the water, but it was shallow, all fine just more laughter - and helps to keep you steady, pleasant chats in between, pointing out different plantations: dasheen (taro), cocoa, chaconia… Wear appropriate shoes, bring towel and change of clothes, go for it… and if you are like me who cannot get enough spicy food, load the bake and shark - basically a fried fish sandwich - with the hot pepper sauce 😋 Booking agent: Dominique, do speak to them, they’ll recommend hikes that match your fitness level, and tell you what to expect Hiking guide: Derreem, thank you for taking me 😂
Amazing day at Avocat Waterfall & Maracas Beach

5.00This was my most enjoyable excursion during our trip. We hiked and did a short swim through the rainforest to Avocat waterfall and the view was amazing. We also climbed to the top of the waterfall where we found another natural pool. We finished the tour with some local snacks near our exit, and a quick stop at Maracas beach where we were able to try the delicious shark and bake. Overall, a lovely experience that I would definitely recommend. Our tour guide, Denton, was also a large part of us having such a great experience. He is very knowledgeable and keeps you entertained throughout the entire day enlightening you with different information. He is also very safe and always checking on you to ensure you are getting along well throughout activities. We asked for him specifically when we booked our next tour and I’d suggest you do too!

5.00We're took this trip today with Denton. Just brilliant. So good to get out of Port of Spain to the stunning beaches first and then to walk up the river to a glorious waterfall. Denton also treated us to 'doubles' delicious sort of pancakes filled with chickpeas and herbs. After swimming in the waterfall we went back to Maracus Beach and had bake and shark. Lovely day, lovely people everywhere. The 'Trinis' are just the best people.

5.00This was a lovely hike through the rain forest. It was a private trip for us (just the two of us with our guide). I would rate this a medium terrain for people experienced with hiking as it does require some very minor rope work with slippery surfaces (do not attempt if you cannot hold your own body weight with a rope). The two waterfalls were glorious (the 2nd waterfall does require a bit more of an effort on the rope work, but it is not required to finish the trip).
