  If you're a tourist in Tromso between September-April, odds are your trip involves seeing the northern lights. Doing that means a constellation of factors all have to go the right way: the solar activity which can only be known ~1h in advance has to be good, there can't be any cloud cover, and you need to catch the lights at the right moment as they can be as fickle as fireflies. Fortunately, Arctic Explorers takes all this into consideration and earns their high 90s % satisfaction rate. They picked up our small group on a cloudy night that by all accounts looked pretty iffy for seeing northern lights. Not sugarcoating reality, our guide informed us that we maybe had a window of 1-2h within which we'd have a shot at both a break in the clouds and seeing the lights. Everyone got into the tour-provided cold-weather suits, we boarded the bus ASAP, and we were soon under way, driving by large bus groups still doing headcount. After about an hour on the road, we pulled over and I can only say that strictly speaking we did see the northern lights at that stop. It's true, the photos look better than what can be seen with the naked eye. Still, the guide's photos came alive. Back on the bus, we resumed our search for more breaks in the clouds. AFter barely any time at all, we pulled over at a rest area where the clouds opened up. It was there that we saw a dazzling display of nature's majesty through a break in the clouds that grew wider with each passing moment. I still can't believe how great the photos turned out and how vividly the dancing lights were captured on camera. With a relieved guide and ecstatic group, we gathered around a fire where we dined on warm salmon pasta from a bag and had celebratory mugs of hot cocoa. I can't imagine recommending another company for a northern lights tour.

  This was a really unique and wonderful experience! The minibus was very comfortable for our 3 hour drive out to find the best spot to see the lights from. Our guide Tomas was was very knowledgeable and attentive to everyone’s needs, very sympathetic and managed to ensure an amazing experience. The campfire set up and soup were great too! We definitely recommend!

  Very cool experience! Even though it was a very cloudy and snowy week, we managed to find a spot to see the Northern Lights. We were lucky, even if the chances were low. Magdalena, our tour guide, was very nice and sympathetic. They provide everything you need to stay warm—and it really works! The photos are nice!

  Our family had an amazing time! Crew was very knowledgeable and attentive to everyone’s needs. I wasn’t too hopeful to see the lights because of heavy cloud cover near Tromso but the guides were able to get us to a spot where skies were clear and we had a spectacular show of the lights. I know conditions need to be perfect but going with Arctic Explorers was the right choice. They provided us with the right clothing, are very organized, the booking process was very smooth and they always got back to me whenever I had questions about the tours. I definitely recommend!

  First of all, the communications with the staff were perfect, timely and effective. It was my son's eighteen and they have arranged everthing (even a cake) to celebrate it. Our guide was competent, everthing was scientifically explained, and the needs of everyone have been satisfied. The Northen Light, of course are magic, but the warm of a constant attention and the detailed description of the event was really unforgettable. It deserve every single penny! Just an advice: buy the high quality photo's packet, you don't regret it.

  Absolutely incredible experience with Arctic Explorers Tromsø! I could not recommend this company enough. They went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I had a wonderful experience and I am forever grateful for that. We had Petra as our guide and she was wonderful. Hands down one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had. She was informative, passionate, kind, and SO patient with all of us. Our driver was awesome too. We were so lucky to have an incredible aurora show for hours on our tour. And Petra took amazing photos of our group. I’m thankful to have the memories captured.   The experience was absolutely incredible. From the very first moment, our guide Magdalena filled our journey with positivity. She explained everything clearly, with endless patience, and made sure to fulfill every single request we had. I truly recommend booking with this group — they do everything humanly possible to make sure you get the chance to see the Northern Lights. In our case, our amazing guide Magdalena even drove us all the way to Finland just to give us the best opportunity to witness them. • Dancing Green lady of the North

  We had a great sighting of the wonderful aurora - dancing in green waves with hints of purple at her edges!!! One of God’s creations to amaze and entertain us. All seen at a sudden stop and pull over into a lay-by. Magdalena was very attentive to the sky’s activity and great at spotting! She and our driver looked after us well. We were well kitted out in their Arctic suits which were very warm. Would highly recommend.

  Fantastic excersion, organised very well! Remained warm and dry in our snow suits and boots. Alberto, was very honest about our slim chance of seeing the lights and explained the science behind them. We had a great, experienced driver that worked with Alberto to seek out the auroras, even got to see wild reindeer and lovely meal around a camp fire with toasted marshmallows
