We had a great afternoon spent with Michele and his "golden goose," Aika, the truffle whisperer. Aika is a special purebred Italian lagotto romagnolo truffle dog with more than 10 years of experience. To locate the black truffles, we ambled along a mountainside dirt road located on a gentle incline just above a picturesque vineyard. Aika found truffles in no time! We ended up with a couple of dozen black truffles, several of which were the size of a golf ball. After about an hour, we drove to a 250-year-old restaurant where our truffles were generously shaved tableside onto our pasta lunch. This was followed by more truffles shaved onto a fried egg -- supposedly the ultimate way that truffle connoisseurs enjoy their harvest. It was great being outdoors, and great disproving all the naysayers who whined that "mid-May is not truffle season." We definitely proved them wrong in a big way! This was a relatively easy excursion that almost anyone can do. We took videos while Aika did all the work. I would recommend this tour with Michele to all of our friends, and we would do it again if we pass through the area in the future.

Book this! Michael and his dog, Aika, were a pleasure to spend the day with. Walking through the woods was such a peaceful experience after so much time being spent in noisy cities. And the meal at a local restaurant was the best meal of our entire trip! It was a lovely day of beautiful views, great company, well-paced walking and learning, and was definitely a highlight of our trip. Such a unique experience.

A great experience with small hikes with Michele and Aika, who led us to finding a variety of 6 different truffles. It was a beautiful day in Verona and the countryside that ended in a lovely meal at a local restaurant with new friends and the taste of the truffles that we had found! Michele was funny, knowledgeable, and even gave helpful suggestions of what to see during the rest of our time in Verona.

One of the most memorable experiences. We got to hunt for truffles with Ika and Michele, see some of the countryside, and eat delicious pasta and gnocchi with the truffles we picked. Would highly recommend this

Fun and authentic truffle hunt. Several in our group had been before and thought this tour was superior to other tours. We met in a small town and them drove a few minutes to a wooded area. The guide explained about the dog and how truffles grow. We sent off into the woods and observed the dog working. She found truffles in several locations which was exciting. The area was beautiful (great views) and we had lovely weather which made for a fun outing. We ended the tour with a simple and delicious meal at a local restaurant that highlighted the truffles we found that morning. Excellent experience!

30-45 minute hike, some in the woods, some on rocky trails, some up hill. Difficulty scale from 1- 5, this is a 2. EXCELLENT truffle finding adventure, Aika (sweet dog), was very well trained and found 4 truffles on our trip, dug from under the vines and near the root system of Chestnut and small Oak trees. Michael(a) was a terrific and knowledgeable guide. Lunch was Spectacular with our own shaved truffles from our find.

This was the highlight of our time in Italy so far and I can’t recommend this highly enough. Michele (with Aika) delivered an amazing experience. We really enjoyed learning more about truffles, where they come from and the different varieties. Aika is such a pro and it was fun watching her track down several truffles. The countryside is just beautiful and so peaceful to wander around. Our lunch was just right. How could any food be lacking once it has fresh truffles on it! And getting to visit a small restaurant outside of the city boundary is something we wouldn’t have done under our own steam, so was extra enjoyable. Thanks again! This was a terrific morning.
