It was a little drizzly as the family boarded the beautifully restored steam engine ship for the pleasantly paced trip to Walter Peak farm. Upon arrival the group was split into 2 main groups. One did the tour of the animals first then had morning tea. We had the morning tea first and the animal visit second. The highland cows certainly are an funny looking cow, resemble more of a moody 15 year old. Thankfully they didn't have the temperament to match! Our family got to feed / pat and take lots of photo's of all of the animals. Pigs, deer, cows.... As well as a sheepdog demonstration to round things off. Granted the Highland cows are the what separates the this from other farm encounters. In short, it was really well organised, friendly and engaging staff and is a must do for family's if you are in Queenstown.

This tour was so much better than we expected. Steam ship is beautiful and you can really explore all of it. The animals at the farm are gorgeous and friendly. The food provided for afternoon tea was amazing and there was free time to walk around the gardens and the beach. Fab tour.

This was such a fun day! It was crowded, but also one of the busiest holiday days of the year. The steamship was charming. The staff at the farm were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. Such a beautiful setting!

Booked at 11.30am for a 1pm departure. Other websites had no availability. Really good way to spend a few hours. Not too long either kids loved farm tour and patting / hand feeding baby animals. Farm show pretty basic but good if no previous exposure to rural life. Tour not too long and good way to see the lake from the boat. Little less Adrenalin.

The experience as a whole was good. We enjoyed it. Queenstown centre is stunning on a sunny day. 1 - Check-in was smooth. The RealNZ staff Zachery was very friendly and helpful! He kindly offered parking info to me. Really appreciated that. 2 - The cruise view was great! And staff on board were nice and friendly too. 3 - The farm tour guide Sam was also very nice and friendly. The farm show was interesting. 4 - A Mandarin speaking lady in the gift shop was also very friendly and helpful, guiding us to the farm performance. Some areas could’ve been potentially improved: 1 - More alpacas would be great. There were only two : ( 2 - Activities on the farm could’ve been more organised. There was no time table or info display. We were not aware of the start time of the farm show, and missed a bit of it. 3 - Signage on the bathroom area could’ve been in a more friendly tone. “Do not enter” and “不许进入” both sound like very harsh telling-off. That’s not how you want to make customers feel in a hospitality setting. 4 - The afternoon tea was tasty too but could’ve been more well organised as staff were a bit stressed out with a big crowd of tourists moving slowly.

Really enjoyed the Walter Peaks experience and the chance to feed the animals. The afternoon tea offered really yummy treats as well. Will recommend the tour to friends who plan to visit Queenstown. Highlights of the tour was seeing the herding of the sheep. One suggestion would be for the staff to provide guidance upon arrival to Walter’s Peak. Upon disembarkation, we didn’t know what will take place next and process of tour wasn’t properly provided to guests. we were left not knowing what’s going on and time we need to be at dock to embark on ship to return to town.

We had an amazing experience with Realnz. My husband is gluten intolerant which we let them know beforehand and they were very accommodating and the farm experience was fascinating. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the greatest and we didn’t get to experience the ernslaw on the way home. But can not fault the trip there and the tour itself :)

The journey begins aboard the TSS Earnslaw, a vintage steamship that feels like a floating museum. Watching the stokers shovel coal into the glowing furnaces is a rare, fascinating sight. The open-deck views of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding Remarkables mountain range are simply breathtaking—make sure your camera is charged! The farm demonstration is both educational and entertaining; watching the sheepdogs work with such precision is incredible, and the sheep shearing demo provides a genuine look at New Zealand’s farming heritage. Highly Recommended...
