It'll be held in a 100 year-old traditional Japanese house with a mixed eastern style interior. The workshop will provide all the materials needed for a smoother experience. The workshop will have 2 levels available, the traditional kanzashi which will be easy and the sakura kanzashi which will be a little more difficult than the traditional one. The sakura kanzashi may take more time to make than the traditional one but the instructor will guide you throughout the workshop. There will also be a break time where the travelers can enjoy some matcha and Japanese sweets. After the workshop, they can take home their handmade kanzashi in a box and they can look around some kanzashis made by the instructor available for purchase.

We'll talk about the brief history of Tsumami-zaiku and then we will show the 2 options to choose from (1) traditional (2) Sakura "Cherry blossom". After choosing, we'll show a variety of patterned cloths and accessories to be used to design your own kanzashi, teaching how to make the kanzashi step by step. All the materials provided will already be precut and premade, except for the Kanzashi (petals). The teacher will guide the students throughout the process, so feel free to ask any questions, don't worry about making mistakes and have fun! The glue used to put together the Kanzashi will take some time to dry so during that time we will have a breaktime where we'll have some tea and snacks. There'll also be time to look at handmade items available for purchase. After the break, we'll hand out the finished Kanzashi wrapped up and ready to take home!

Amazing!! The location is this old building that showcases lots of traditional woodwork. It also smelt so nice from the front incense that was burning. The Sensei was fantastic and everyone in our group of six completed a kanzashi. It was a fun activity and if you want a chill cultural experience in a very unique building I’d recommend this. It’s really cool you get to make your own hair clip to keep too.

We had a large group of six people attend this class. It was a wonderful experience where we learned a bit of history on the art and had step by step instructions on how to fold the petals to make our flower pins. We had an English speaking guide and she stayed with us to interpret the instructor. Everyone was so nice and they answered all our questions. We were also able to buy some already made pieces the instructor had displayed in the shop. Beautiful work and easy to make! Everyone was very happy with this experience and we would do it again or try to continue the craft at home.

Jun, Ami and Misa-sensei provided a lovely craft workshop! They were all super friendly, accommodating and professional. We had such lovely chats! Misa is a very talented Maker and her instructions on how to create tsumami zaiku were very clear. Her own work, which is on display in the workshop, is also very impressive! It’s a great activity which I highly recommend to book if you’re ever in Osaka! Thank you Misa, Jun and Ami for having me! It was such a pleasure! 10/10!

I had a very nice time learnjng how to make kanzashi. The teacher was very knowledgeable and kind and I learned a lot. The owner of the gorgeous cafe downstairs was also very kind and joined us for a nice chat. And finally, there was a Japanese-English translator who was there to greet me and provided language support. It was a fantastic experience and I really enjoyed learning to make kanzashi and also talking with local Osaka residents.

The atmosphere of the traditional Japanese house was unique and very intriguing. The Kanzasgi instructor’s teaching style was thorough, and with an interpreter available, I felt no anxiety about making the Kanzashi. While I worked on my kanzashi, they served matcha tea and sweets, which made it a truly wonderful experience.

I had so much fun taking this class! The instructors were very sweet and patient. You don’t have to know Japanese in order to participate; their ability to speak English is excellent. (I speak a little and they offered to teach in both English and Japanese, which was great practice~) The location is in a quiet part of the suburbs of Osaka, yet easily accessible. Only about a ten minute walk from the station and can be accessed from any part of Osaka. It took me about 15 minutes on the metro to get there from Osaka Station. They supply everything and give you many options. The cafe where it’s held is SO cute in a traditional Japanese building. They offered me tea and a snack and you’re able to purchase some beautiful kanzashi pieces from the instructor (but no pressure!). I highly recommend!
