We created the camp to provide a quality experience with excellent service, as we want our guests to experience the adventure of Acatenango without having a bad time. Our food portions are generously sized and made with sustaining ingredients, as we know firsthand how demanding this adventure is. The camp is new and very well-designed. It's also very well-located, with a surprising view of the the protagonist of this adventure, the Fuego Volcano.
Our camp is called IXCANUL, which in the Mayan language refers to the internal force of the mountain, which can erupt at any moment. Our goal is for you to fall in love with our country and make you want to come back again to create unforgettable experiences.

This tour was one of the best experiences we’ve had! Juan, our guide, was the best and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to guide us on each hike. He was so positive and motivating and always ensured the group stayed together. GT experience organized a great trip, providing you with everything you need (good/kit), and the cabins and beds do the trick for the few hours of rest you get between watching fuego erupt and waking up again for the beautiful sunrise hike! The group was also a smaller size compared to other groups going up which was nice, would also recommend to do the fuego for extra $. Just make sure to bring enough extra water and layers on the trip (but also Experience provided most things to borrow like extra warm jackets). Would definitely recommend this agency to anyone!

My friend and me hiked Acatenango and Fuego with Experience GT and it was the best hike we ever had. All guides, but especially Carlos were amazing, even with my altitude struggles, he was very caring and supportive, can 10 out of 10 recommend!!

Amazing!!! Our guides were incredible (I am already forgetting names, but i think one was named carlos? All of them were fantastic though, as guides and also for the vibe) and this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip. When debating the two optional hikes, definitely listen to the guides when they emphasize how hard it is--and don't be mad when it really is that difficult! Hard, but so so so worth it. The hike to base camp is strenuous in-and-of-itself, I personally did not condition before coming, but I am relatively active and fit 24 year old and i was strugglinggg, i can't lie. Keep it in mind. I still did the 2 extra hikes, and again, VERY challenging, but insane experience. You get to see Fuego Volcano up close and watch the sunrise on the summit of Acatenango if you do the additional ones. Incredible. They provide head lamps, walking sticks, jackets, hats, gloves, jackets, food, and two liters of water. You of course don't have to take all of this is you have brought your own gear. Trust me, we ran into some other groups the night we did the Fuego hike, and they were walking around with their guides in the pitch black with no headlamps, walking sticks, or gloves--be glad this company gets you prepared! Only thing they don't have is hiking shoes, you can rent some in the area prior to the hike or bring your own. Some of us, me included, hiked in sneakers with some grip and personally I was fine. You do have to carry up your stuff if you'd hire a porter, which is an option, but it's not like you have to take up your sleeping gear or anything, so it was not too bad. No one in our group hired one, but it's something to think about. It gets cold at night (weather was actually great when I went, but I can imagine) so be ready to sleep in layers, a beanie, and gloves. They have altitude sickness stuff with them, but I'd recommend taking altitude pills as soon as you get to Antigua, as you need to take them at least the night before for them to be effective. The altitude patches are also helpful. This is something I will remember for the rest of my life, and this was such a great company to do it with!! I can't recommend it enough.

We had the most amazing hike with the guides from Experience GT to the Acetenango vulcano and Fuengo, 10/10! Even though the hike is quite challenging, the guides really motivated us and they always stayed positive, which helped and created a good vibe! We had a lot of fun and would definitely recommend booking the hike with them.

A truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. The views were absolutely unbelievable, and our group was very social, which made it easy and fun to get to know fellow travelers. The hike to the Fuego viewpoint and hike to the summit are the highlights for sure. The guide was excellent and really enhanced the overall experience.

The guides were amazing. They really made sure everyone had everything they needed and we could borrow some cloches, back packs and shoes if needed. I was in the slowest of the group and I never felt like I needed to go faster. The guide made sure we took breaks as needed. At the campsite, they made us some hot chocolaté and coffee. The camp in itself is bunkbeds, a common room and a toilet, it is not fancy but it’s okay for one night. The view on Feugo is really nice! I would book with the magasin in the future if I wanted to do it again!
