Philipsburg
On your way back to the port or hotel, you can choose to end your tour in Philipsburg, the shopping capital of the Caribbean. This duty-free town is the capital of Dutch St. Maarten and features Front Street and Back Street, which are lined with shops. To the south, you'll find Great Bay Beach and the Boardwalk, which is home to a variety of restaurants serving local cuisine and lively bars. Philipsburg is just 20 mins walk away from from the cruise port, and guests can easily walk or take a water taxi back.
Great Bay Beach
Looking down on Great Bay Beach, the view is pure postcard perfection. The arc of golden sand is a striking contrast to the deep blue of the water, which seems to shimmer with a hundred different shades of turquoise

5.00We had a great time on this tour and learned so much about the island. Raj was extremely professional and patient with us all. We decided that this was our favorite tour we did the entire trip. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about the history/culture behind St. Maarten. However, if you're mainly looking for lots of beach or relaxation time, this is not the tour for you. Thanks Raj!

5.00Raj is a fantastic tour guide. He is friendly, easy going, and knowledgeable. He shared historical, political, and anecdotal information, and encouraged question’s and conversation. Raj not only xplained and showcased both the Dutch and French sides of the island, he offered recommendations for enjoying the most of each stop on the tour. Highly recommend!

From the moment we met him, it was clear we were in the hands of someone who deeply understands this island—its history, culture, natural beauty, and hidden gems. Raj is smart, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about St. Maarten. He guided us with confidence and ease, sharing insights that brought every stop to life—from the breathtaking lookouts at Cole Bay Hill and Rotary Point to the peaceful beauty of Oyster Pond, and the thrilling energy of Maho Beach’s famous low-flying planes. He was also incredibly accommodating, adjusting the timing and pace to suit our interests while making sure we saw everything we hoped to experience. 4.00Very professional and knew his history. Didn't like the beach restaurant where he took us. However, the restaurant’s service was good. It was very overpriced. The currency was not clearly stated, and I found out it was in euros.
