5.00This walk and experience was amazing! Ider explained a lot and the 5km walk was ok for us being totally untrained. The insights into his background and local community was perfect! And finally the cooking was a lot of fun and tasty! Thanks Ider for the lovely day!

5.00The guide was Ider, whose excellent and soft English with friendly manner made me so relaxed when started the tour. His rich background (Life at Gel in childhood days, moved to city afterwards, and he has studied/worked in the US with a lot of travelling, ) is truly interesting to me! Walking about 5 km (3 miles) for one way may sound a little hard, but probably not, considering the traffic jam. Seeing the town, Gel district and scenery from the Hill Top was amazing, because the weather is not so humid. On that day it happened to be with his sister's family at lunch time, the cooking（"huushuur"）, sharing the time together brought me a immensely precious time. (The apron was actually sewed by him.) Also, he kindly took me to the market on the way. It was so lucky as I would like to find local products such as soap, and so forth with reasonable price. Personally, through this activity, I was taken aback as I was able to visit "Sakura" museum in which I read newspaper this year and saw/talked the person who opened there. 当日案内してくれたイーデルさんは、とても親しみやすい感じのよいプロフェッショナルなガイドでした。（Serey Travel を創設者です。） 6歳までゲルで過ごし、その後家族とともに市の中心で住むようになった男性で、米国の大学で学んだり働いた経験を持つ人でもあり、来日経験もあり話も興味深く盛沢山でした。（英語、モンゴル語、ロシア語が流暢のようです。） 市内・郊外は交通渋滞でしばし時間をとられるので、（車やバスでなく）歩くツアーにしたようです。湿度が高くないのでそれほど汗をかかずにゆっくりとしたペースで丘まで登りました。 途中にはアートが所々にあり、丘の上からの景観は素晴らしく、イーデルさん（とその妹さん）が中心になって調理してくださったランチ（ホーショール）は本当に美味でした！ エプロンはイーデルさんが趣味で作ったものを使用しました。 個人的に驚いたのは、今年新聞で読んだ、日本人抑留者の歴史を伝える私設資料館「さくら」がそこにあり、開設、運営している、モンゴル人男性とも会え、（イーデルさんを通して）お話ができたことは貴重な大変でした。（今年天皇皇后のモンゴル御訪問時にリセプションに招待され、10月には講演で招聘され来日するとのことでした。） またこのツアーの途中でマーケット（市場）の脇を通り、中に入ることができたお蔭で欲しかったもの（お土産用のオーガニックソープ等）が割安に購入でき嬉しかったです。他にも沢山の地域の固有の商品があり、興味をそそられました。 私としては、（観光だけでなく、貴重な体験でもあったので）できるだけ多くの方にこのツアーに参加していただき、色々な側面からモンゴルのことを知ってもらえることを願っています。 Discover a side of Mongolia most travelers miss （ ← Iderさんのサイトも見つけました。）
