Located in the village of Meniko, the Church of Cyprian and Justina is dedicated to Saints Cyprian and Justina, venerated for their miraculous powers against witchcraft and evil spirits. Second Stop: Church of the Virgin Mary Assinou. Moving into the picturesque Troodos Mountains, we arrive at the Church of the Virgin Mary Assinou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This 12th-century church is famous for its vibrant Byzantine frescoes, among the finest in Cyprus. This was my second experience in the Troodos mountains, which I missed first time in Cyprus. In winter such excursions are not daily. Also in this one we saw a Christmas village at the end, which were the topic of the first one. 5 UNESCO churches out of the 9+1 were to be seen, but one was closed because of the Epiphanie. However, the first church was Saint Ciprian, who was from Cyprus. The time was tight and the excursion was rather 9 1/2 hours, so exactly suitable in winter, even if one of the churches was closed. Some of the churches are outside the villages and there are great mountain perspectives. Constantin and Elena are always depicted. The last church (Saint John) is a functioning monastery with a shop.

Very interesting thanks to the very good guide/driver. Irina. She told us a lot of things about the churches, but also about Cyprus. Really interesting things. No funny jokes. We were in a small group (3 persons + Irina) in a very comfortable car.

I highly recommend this excursion, alone it is worth the whole trip and for myself I think it is the most beautiful excursion to do in Cyprus. Our guide Catherine was an exceptional guide explaining every aspect that concerned both the beautiful Churches and Monasteries, both pointing out details of the environment around us (such as flowers, plants, animals...), and explaining historical anecdotes and not to better understand life in Cyprus. We could not ask for better, I think you can not visit Cyprus and skip this experience. Thanks for everything.

Very great and interesting tour, super nice guide. It would have been great if she had water with her, as it was on all the other tours we did there.

Great day out with Irina as a guide. Nice comfortable vehicle and full day out. I thought it was a fantastic value. We saw beautifully spiritual old monasteries and churches with amazing paintings inside. We drove through the country and mountainside. Irina was highly knowledgeable and very interesting and I left the trip feeling like if there was just one trip to take in Cyprus this would be the one to take!
