DETAILS MAKE EXCELLENCE ! In this tour we will visit 3 of the oldest and most beautiful historical sites in Transylvania.
We will visit the village of Saxon Viscri, with rustic streets and beautifully colored Saxon houses. We will climb the hill and visit the fortified white church, hence the name of the village of Viscri (the White Church).
Then we'll head to Sighisoara, the city played an important strategic and commercial role at the edges of Cetral Europe for several centuries.Old medieval houses with a beautiful architecture, narrow streets with brightly colored houses will come back in time and make you feel like princesses and princes (see Vlad Tepes) who lived in the city.
Rupea Citadel, built on Cohalmului Hill, dominating the city from above, was built and expanded in the 14th-17th centuries, as a fortress and refuge for the surrounding villages.From up inside the fortress we will have a beautiful panorama of the surroundings

Cetatea Rupea
It is a medieval fortress, built starting with the 14th century on the hill of Cohalm. The first documentary attestation dates from 1324 when the Saxons revolted against King Carol Robert of Hungary took refuge inside the fortress, Castrum Kuholm. The name of Kuholom refers to the rock on which it was built: basalt. Documents from the 15th century mention the fortress as an important trade and craft center with 12 guilds. The citadel served over time as a fortification but also a refuge for the population that lived in the surrounding hills and valleys, its settlement being strategic: at the junction of the roads connecting Transylvania, Moldova and Wallachia through the southeastern passes.Rupea Citadel, built on Cohalmului Hill, dominating the city from above, was built and expanded in the 14th-17th centuries, as a fortress and refuge for the surrounding villages.
Viscri Fortified Church
Your first stop is the 14th-century village of Viscri, built by Saxon colonists.It is one of the most beautiful and old fortified churches in Transylvania .Wander the rustic streets of the village and visit its UNESCO World Heritage-listed church We will socialize with the peasants, taste the palinca ( Brandy ) made in the village, you will buy the products made by hand by the peasants in the village, and we will cool with the delicious fruit syrup "Socata".

5.00The tour was incredible, we got to see amazing fortresses and fortified churches. Our guide gave us an in-depth overview of Romanian history in a single day. We got to see King Charles' favourite part of Romania. We had perfect mountain views almost to ourselves, there weren't any crowds. The fees were good, but best of all was the mountainous atmosphere and relaxing beginning of summer vibes. The end of the evening was crowned with a great homemade meal in a cozy restaurant in Viscry. No guide tour could have been more unique, wonderful and accommodating. Definitely recommend (from Canada 🇨🇦)!

5.00Traian did an amazing job! This comprehensive visit was an excellent and well-worthwhile tour. Lasting from 8:30 to 7:00 with travel time included, it covered Rupea, Viscri, Sighisoara, and Biertan. Traian was extremely knowledgeable about each destination, and explained well how each tied into the greater Romanian history. Further, he was extremely flexible, and was able to cater to our schedule. For three people, the fee was around 500 USD. This included the extra site (Biertan), and all transportation (which, considering the price of gas and what it would be to rent a car, was very reasonable). The overall atmosphere was very congenial, and well worth an entire day. If you are a history buff, this would be right up your alley. Would highly recommend.

Each stop is in a picturesque setting and connected to interesting legends and figures from the past. Traian really brought history to life and ensured that we had the most enjoyable experience.

5.00We booked this tour upon arrival in Braşov, as this was a late change to our travel itinerary. I spoke Traian, the owner and General Manager, and he agreed to take us on a private tour of the Unesco sites in Transylvania! The tour exceed all expectations. Traian was extremely knowledgeable and a real joy to spend time with. He is passionate about his country and that came through. The highlight of the tour was topping at one of his friends house to drink some home made schnapps! Highly recommend this tour!!!
The castles, villages and unesco sites are amazing. Kept very well and people are so welcoming the food is amazing

5.00We had an amazing day out with Traian! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the places we visited as well as Romanian history and many more aspects. We went in February and whilst it was a little chilly in places we had almost every stop to ourselves making it such a peaceful experience. We would thoroughly recommend using Discovery Transylvania and are sad we couldn't stay longer to experience the other trips they offer as well !
