The 7 to 8 Days Kilimanjaro climbing joining or shared or private is considered the most scenic trail on Kilimanjaro, granting panoramic vistas on various sides of the mountain. As one of the newer routes, Lemosho is a superb choice for your climb. It is our preferred route due to its ideal balance of low crowds, beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate. Climb and Safari Tours® specializes in guiding on the Lemosho route. Most of our clients climb Kilimanjaro using this route and they consistently report that they loved it. Thus, Lemosho is highly recommended.
The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower.

You will have breakfast and precede hiking east up to a steeping path above the vegetation toward Kilimanjaro looming mass. After several hours of walking now commerce you’re a walk through a rocky landscape to reach the prominent landmark called Lava Tower at 4,630 m/15,190 ft. This chunky remnant of Kilimanjaro earlier volcanic activity is several hundred feet high, and the trail passes right below it. For extra credit, the sure-footed can scramble to the top of the tower. After a lunch stop near Lava Tower, descend for 2 hours below the lower cliffs of the Western Breach and Breach Wall to Barranco Camp at 3,950 m/12,960 ft. There are plentiful photo opportunities on this hike, especially if the walls are festooned with ice. Barranco Camp is in a valley below the Breach and Great Barranco Walls, which should provide you with a memorable sunset while you wait for your dinner. On this day, be careful to become aware of any signs of altitude sickness.

After a good night’s rest and breakfast, we set off on our walk to Barafu camp at 4640m. The climb will take us across desolate scree slopes with no vegetation around us at all. It’s a tough steep walk made more difficult by the altitude. On arriving at camp we eat and spend the afternoon resting as we prepare for a long night and day ahead. It is important to keep hydrated and warm. We have an early dinner and then try to get some sleep as we will be getting up at between 11pm and 12pm to start the climb to the summit.

This morning you will hike east over intervening ridges and valley to join the Mweka Route, which will be your descent route. Turn left toward the mountain and hike up the ridge through a sparse landscape for another hour to Barafu Hut where you will receive a hot lunch. The last water point on this route is Karanga Valley as there is no water at Barafu Cam. Even though Barafu is the Swahili word for ice. The famous snows of Kilimanjaro are far above Barafu Camp near the summit of the mountain. Your tent will be pitched on a narrow, stony, wind-swept ridge, so make sure that you familiarize yourself with the terrain before dark to avoid any accidents. Prepare your equipment and warm clothing for your summit climb, and drink a lot of fluids. After an early dinner, go to bed for a few hours of valued sleep.

You will be up around 11:30 PM, and after some hot tea and biscuits you will drag your feet off into the night. 6-hour climb northwest up through heavy scree between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers to Stella Point on the crater rim is the most challenging part of the route for most climbers. At Stella Point 5,685 m/18,650 ft you stop for a short rest and a chance to see a supremely sanguine sunrise. At Stella Point you join the top part of Marangu Route but do not stop here too long, as it will be extremely difficult to start again due to cold and exhaustion. Depending on the time of year and current storms you may stumble upon snow on your remaining hike along the rim to Uhuru Peak. On the summit, you can enjoy your accomplishment and know that you are creating a day that you will remember for the rest of your life. After your 3-hour descent from the summit back to Barafu Camp, you will have a well-deserved but short rest collect your gear, and hike down a rock and scree path into the moorland and sooner or later into the forest to Mweka Camp 3,100 m/10,170 ft This camp is in the upper forest, so you can anticipate mist or rain in the late afternoon., Dinner and washing water will be prepared and the camp office sells drinking water, soft drinks, chocolates, and beers.

I climbed Kilimanjaro in August and chose this company – an excellent choice in every way! The company is very professional, and the team truly takes care of you from start to finish. I had a team of seven or eight people – experienced guides, cooks, and porters – who were always attentive, friendly, and ready to help with anything. The conditions on the mountain were far beyond my expectations. There was plenty of delicious, well-prepared food every day, which makes a huge difference during the long days of climbing. My tent was surprisingly spacious and even came with a table and chair – a level of comfort I didn’t see with many other groups on the route. Another major advantage is the price. Compared to other companies offering similar services, this one is much more affordable. I met people who paid more but received less – smaller tents, no table or chairs, and almost the same food menu. Here, I truly felt I got excellent value for my money. The team was extremely flexible, attentive, and prompt, always ready to adjust when needed and making sure every step of the climb went smoothly. I felt safe and fully supported the entire time – and that’s priceless on such a challenging mountain. I wholeheartedly recommend this company to anyone who wants to climb Kilimanjaro safely, with great organization and at a fair price!

This tour was nothing short of incredible, and left us with life-long memories we will cherish forever. The Lemosho route allowed us to acclimatize gradually while taking our time to enjoy the beautiful surrounding nature, ending with our successful ascent to the summit! From the pick up, meeting of the crew, and start of the hike we felt well supported. Along the way, we had an entire team rooting for us, supporting us, cooking for us, and guiding us through dense forests, barren rock lands, and arctic altitudes. They carried our gear, set up our tents, and gave us daily briefings so we felt informed and comfortable. Our guides Venance and Johnson were awesome and were with us every step of the way. And our waiter Pius was always so attentive and made sure we had what we needed before and after a long day's trek. The chef Juma is a true talent with food and the best cook on the mountain (and all of Moshi for that matter). We highly recommend this company, these amazing people, and this route for all those hoping to successfully conquer Kilimanjaro. Note: upfront communication before the tour could have been better to answer our several questions. Be prepared to spend several hundred dollars extra, per person, for rentals, wages, and tips.

I was by 27 days in Tanzania (Kilimanjaro, Safaris, Mwanza and Zanzibar) Kilimanjaro Hiking, Lemosho route (best for good acclimatation), best mountain hiking of my life, great service (special mention Jackson the chef). Tip: ask for guides and porters’ regulations before the trip. Materuni and Chemka trips was fine, nice places to interact with Moshi area culture Safaris: you must do it at least once in life! Tip: try to get 600mm (or 400mm) lens for your camera and you can get photos that seems to be for NatGeo. Lugo (the driver) and Vicent (guide in Spanish) Excellent job!!! (it is important an experienced driver, very hard roads) Tarangire, excellent! Best place to Bao Bao trees. Karatu to Serengeti / Serengeti / Ngorongoro: Really amazing!! If you can spend more than the usual 3 days there, it worths!! Bus trip from Arusha to Mwanza, just if you want to see non touristic areas, but you could get better understanding of way of life, culture and economy inner Tanzania and the area around Lake Victoria. Zanzibar, I recommend The Stone Town & Prison excursion and Safari Blue Tour. Tip: It is a big island, with different zones, some family friendly other with much night life or watersports, ask for your preference. Nalisis great job and compromise, thank you very much!!!

Best Kilimanjaro Climbing Guide. Nalisis was top of everything during our hike on Kilimanjaro, we managed to make it by spending 8 days on Lemosho Route. Kilimanjaro is the highest Mountain in Africa found in Tanzania, at first when I was booking for the hike with Nalisis, I was not sure if the Mountain is in Kenya or Tanzania and where the exact point to land so that I can hike. Nalisis explained to me well about Mt. Kilimanjaro and told me the Mountain is found in Tanzania, and the best way to climb it is from Tanzania side, though in Kenya you can see the Mountain very clear from Amboseli national park in Kanya. Nalisis started to explain about the routes and price, also by considering our experience. At end we chosen 8 days to Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro via Lemosho Route. Nalisis is a good guy and well experienced person in planning about hiking and safaris. The day of arrival we were picked at the airport to Moshi. On the next day we begun the climbing, and we made it in 8 days. I recommend anyone planning to hike Kilimanjaro to make it with Rede Tours in Tanzania.
