• We had a good time

  Our guide was a very kind, nice guy. However, his English wasn’t great, and he didn’t strike me as an expert tourist guide, more like a local who had to do the job. So, the questions we asked about history and other details, we got very short and vague answers. We had a good time though.

  We were forgotten about and picked up late which was very annoying. We weren’t told that although we’d paid for the trip, we had to pay again for everything we went to. Nobody introduced themselves or explained what the schedule was and the guide claimed to speak English but was impossible to understand and wouldn’t answer a straight question. Four of us paid for a taxi to get out of it in the end

  The value for money was great. Unfortunately the day was very windy so we could not see the Blue Eye and we did not swim. Overall the tour is complete, you see all the main attractions of the island and doing it on the pick-up truck body is quite picturesque for the view it offers over the African landscape and even some very authentic villages like Palmeira. The place where we had lunch is spartan but authentic and offers decent food at a low price. Anisio was a good guide, very kind, nice and helpful. Unfortunately that day he had to manage a group of arrogant and rude Portuguese, who made us delay at every stage.

  

  

  

  

• Unspectacular sights

  Experience "Fata Morgana" wg. Clouds just a little glimmer in the distance. "Blue Eye" wg. Clouds not recognizable, yet 3€ admission Salty 6€ admission without bathing in the salt lake. In the water with lemon sharks 3 € was ok. Stop at Kite Surf Beach was interesting, but can also be done comfortably by taxi from the hotel. Ride with Pick Up, we should first sit on the open loading area, which could still be prevented because of our age (80). Tour was offered and booked in German. Driver, however, spoke only English.

  

  

  

  

  

• Good tour but chaotic organization

  The tour itself was good - we went to all the listed places, had a nice time and the guide was friendly. I missed a bit more information in the beginning of the tour about which places required us to pay a fee (3€ for Buracona and 6€ for swimming in the salt lake) as well as more information about the day including where/when we would stop for lunch. The pick-up was chaotic, and the guide said this happens every day... I would suggest to confirm with everyone the day before via WhatsApp the pick-up time and ensure you don't have multiple people being told they are being picked up at the same time. And be very clear that the driver can't wait long time for each person as otherwise the whole tour is delayed - as mine was, about 40 minutes.

• Good way to see the Island with a local

  The pickup was chaotic. I wasn’t sure if this was the right tour. A couple of vehicles drove past my accommodation shouting ”island tour” without confirming my name. I was the first to be picked up, but the initial driver and companion kept answering frantic phone calls or chatting to each other while driving without letting me know what was going on. This was a bit disconcerting as I was alone with them. The tour was enjoyable but slightly dampened by the rain. This meant we missed some stops and whizzed through the island capital without stopping. The guide was very good and friendly. However, I’d book a private or smaller group next time. My group was about 12 people, all couples except for me. One older couple in particular talked non-stop all day in the close quarters of the mini van. They chatted incessantly without a break and seemed completely unaware of group etiquette. By mid-morning it got completely exhausting and even the guide noticed I wasn't particularly engaged after that.

  Very relaxed, reliable, Friendly guide / driver. Beautiful experience, the sharks, salt mines and the illusion place. Highly recommended

  We were recommended Edgar, from Union tours, who went above and beyond to make our trip amazing. He gave great information on what tours there were, and prices along with details of private tours. The staff that picked us up from the hotel and accompanied us, on the trip were professional and polite. As were the guide at the Lemon sharks. I would highly recommend this company.

  We booked our trip with Edgar from Union Tours, who was super friendly and helpful right from the start. He gave us loads of great information about the island and went above and beyond with his recommendations. Such a nice guy! Our guide and photographer, Alfonso, was fantastic. We did a half-day tour to the Blue Eye, the Mirage, the salt baths, and we saw the lemon sharks, what an unforgettable experience! Our driver was really cheerful and helpful, drove safely, and the 4x4 was clean, comfy, and even had air conditioning, which was perfect on a hot day. We had the best time and would 100% recommend Edgar and Union Tours if you’re visiting the island. Thanks again to the whole team for making our day so special!
