Feel the wind in your face as you race your friends and family around our cusom-built track in a blokart. Fun, safe, accessible, sustainable, and much easier than riding a bike, our team of experienced instructors will have you successfully piloting your kart in a matter of minutes. Blokarting can be as thrilling as you want it to be with a range of gear designed to suit every need from the most timid to the most adventurous. Perfect for riders from 7 to 87+. Located just 15 minutes from either the port of Lyttelton or the CBD our site has a lovely backdrop of farmland and the Port Hills. We are proud of the accessibility of the karts, and can work with people with physical or other restrictions to help them successfully operate a kart. Blokart landsailing was invented in New Zealand and Velocity Karts is the only custom-built track in Australasia.

Our purpose built landsailing track is located approximately 15 minutes from the Christchurch CBD and the port of Lyttelton. You'll receive an informative ride from business owner and lifelong Christchurch resident Ian. Upon arrival you'll be fitted with helmets and gloves, shown a short instructional video and then briefed on the circuit we are using for the day. We size the sail to suit the wind conditions, your size and level of confidence, so that each individual can have just the right amount of challenge. You'll enjoy about 45 mins of blokart landsailing before you'll be brought back in. Get ready for a lot of buzz as you compare who was the fastest and share the excitement of your unique Kiwi experience. Maybe you'd like to try our Electric Drift Trikes (as a seperate activity) before your return van ride to your pickup point. Your tour will take approximately 2 hours inclusive of travel time, (allow about 30 minutes extra if trying the Drift trikes).

4.00This experience is dependent on weather. We didn’t have much wind so spent our time going around a shortened course and our carts stopped several times due to lack of wind so not very exciting. We were looking forward to having pictures to share with our grandkids but the young lady who said she would take pictures forgot.

5.00I enjoyed the blocarts. The weather didn't cooperate as much as we'd hoped, but the operators toughed it out admirably, and gave us the time we needed to actually get the experience. When we finally did get some good wind, the wait was worth it. The only thing I'd suggest is for the operators to develop a relationship with the places where they pick up clients... when I couldn't get ahold of the operators on the day we went, there was some anxiety about if we were in the right place for our pickup. That could have been addressed if the hotel operator had known "yes, this place is where blocart riders get picked up".

Living the Dream with Velocity Karts

5.00I have been wanting to do this activity for 10 years and today I experienced that dream and it was way way better than I ever imagined. Having originally booked this sensational activity when we were going on a cruise from Sydney to NZ and then having the cruise cancelled - I wanted to do this so much we booked a flight to Christchurch so that I could fulfill my dream. Ian the owner was so accomodating and adaptable and was really focused on his customers complete satisfaction. The communication when booking was excellent and the tuition was relaxed and safety orientated. We highly recommend this activity - it really is fun and excellent value for money for the whole family. Thanks Velocity Karts for such great service and memories.
