A fast and fun wildlife adventure awaits your family aboard our zodiac-style vessels (rigid inflatable boats). This cruise of up to 20 passengers gives you a thrilling 2-hour look at Southern California’s year-round whales and dolphins. With speeds of 30 knots or more, you’ll spend less time looking for animals and more time enjoying them! Your zodiac adventure will have you incredibly close to the ocean’s surface and within arm’s reach of wildlife. At the conclusion of your cruise, you'll receive one of Mrs. Capt. Dave's famously delicious Triple Fudge Brownies. (Some folks love the brownies more than the whales!)

We are a certified Responsible Whale Watching partner with the World Cetacean Alliance located in Dana Point, CA, the Dolphin and Whale Capital of the World®, and the first Whale Heritage Site in the Americas.

Your exhilarating adventure departs from Dana Point, the first Whale Heritage Site in the Americas, and the Dolphin & Whale Watching Capital of the World®. May through October you could see the largest animals on earth, magnificent Blue Whales. December through April you could witness the incredible Gray Whale migration. And throughout the year you’ll have the opportunity to see Humpback Whales, Fin Whales, Minke Whales, sometimes Orcas (Killer Whales), and so much more. Several species of wild dolphins, some in pods numbering up to 10,000, are seen year-round. Upon arrival you’ll find free parking and a warm smile from our “Dolphin Deck” team. If you or one of your guests is celebrating a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary, be sure to let us know when reserving so that we can arrange for a special greeting. Check in about 30 to 45 minutes in advance. Then relax under a blue umbrella and enjoy a sandwich, snacks, ice cream, cold beverage, or hot coffee with the best view of Dana Point Harbor, until you’re escorted to the boat. Nearby restrooms are available to use prior to boarding.

Capt Gary and Daylyn did a great job. Even though the weather was cold and rainy out trip was great. We have been on many trips with Capt Dave’s and this was one of our best.

So beautiful and such a great experiences. Saw so many dolphins and got see a mom gray whale with her newborn baby! Will for sure use captain Dave’s in the future!

Great experience with Jerry and Janelle. They really worked hard to make sure we found the gray whale mother with calf. Very knowledgeable especially Janelle. Would highly recommend if in the Newport Area.

Amazing experience! We saw a grey whale and dolphins and the boat ride was sublime. Loved our hosts and guides Janela and captain Cass. Definitely recommend!

An absolutely fantastic experience! We went out on Monday the 22nd, and from start to finish it was top-notch. Check in was smooth and welcoming thanks to the lovely Jordan, who immediately set the tone for a wonderful day. Once on board, Amanda was full of interesting, easy to understand information on marine life so made the whole trip even more engaging . The highlight was seeing dolphins and sea lions playing together right alongside the boat, pure magic! Being so close to the water on the AllsWell boat makes the experience feel intimate and exciting, like you’re truly part of the ocean rather than just observing it. Captain Cass was knowledgeable, relaxed, and clearly loves what he does, which made the trip feel safe, fun, and full of great energy. You can tell this team genuinely cares about the guests and the marine life. Highly recommend Captain Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari . We will absolutely be back! 🐬🦭🌊

Amazing trip out. Saw over 100 dolphins and at least 5 whales. Team did a great job getting us out to the action quickly and making sure everyone onboard got a chance to get some amazing pictures

Our 6th trip with Capt. Dave's, we've always had a great time. This trip on 12/18 we got into a group of common dolphins estimated @ 8 to 10 thousand. Captain Gary and first mate Andy where informative and first class. Can't go wrong with Capt Dave's.

6 of us went out on a Dolphin/Whale watch trip on a Wednesday morning at 11am in December 2025. We saw hundreds of dolphins and several whales. Capt Gary was great. He explained what we were looking at and gave us interesting facts about the animals we were witnessing. The boat was comfortable and yet high speed, so we could get to where the dolphins & whales were feeding.

We had an amazing experience! We did the private 2 hour zodiac tour. Everyone at Capt. Dave's was kind and knowledgeable. We saw more dolphins and whales then we could have imagined. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

This is our second time going out on a Zodiac whale watching trip with Capt. Dave's at Dana Point. Always informative information about the marine wildlife. Saw humpbacks and thousands of common dolphins. Great experience!
