Enjoy a walking tour of Gibraltar's Upper Rock with an experienced English speaking local guide.
We will take you around the Upper Rock nature reserve as we walk up the Rock and along the way you will see many of the attractions that Gibraltar has to offer. You will see the military and historical sites, get the chance to walk up the famous Med Steps and you will also get the chance to meet some of our world famous Monkeys.
Please note we have listed the Tours duration as 3 hours, 3 minutes. This is only an approximate time because different people walk at a different pace. If you need to the Tour to finish at a certain time please let us know.

5.00For the second time we had a fantastic walk with Stephen on the Gibraltar rock. The Upper Rock Walking Tour fully confirmed what is promised on the website. And even more. In more than four hours he took us to all the places worthwile, including the monkeys, and to some where hardly a tourist comes. Stephen is well informed, both on the history of the rock and on the sitation in the world (full of troubles and worries these days). And moreover: He is interested in his guests. The tour is tiring, but very, very worthwile. A wonderful experience with unparalleled views.

5.00Found this tour via visitgibraltar.com. Stephen was very communicative via Whatsapp. Answered all the questions I had prior to the trip. (Thanks!) I’m deaf so Stephen and I used our phone to chat for the entirety of the tour and it was just as lovely! He had plenty of information to share and showed me what I believe is all you can see on the rock. I was the only visitor so we moved things quickly and had time to visit both tunnels. Very pleasant experience; nothing that needs to be improved, really.

5.00It was a fantastic walking tour. Stephen was very friendly and knowledgeable and most importantly had the patience to go at a slower pace to match mine. It was a challenge, but I am so thrilled that we did the Med Steps - the views are truly amazing. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

2.00Visiting the Upper Rock Nature Reserve was a real disappointment and, in my opinion, not worth the money. The entry price is high, yet the experience does not match what you pay for. Everything feels overpriced for no clear reason, from access to transport options, and it quickly gives the impression of a tourist rip-off rather than a well-managed attraction. The organisation is poor. There is little clarity on where to go, what is included, or how long things realistically take. Navigating the site can be chaotic, especially during busy periods, and instead of enjoying the views or history, you often find yourself dealing with queues, confusion, and frustration. The views are nice, but nothing you couldn’t enjoy elsewhere without paying such a steep price. Overall, the Upper Rock appears to rely heavily on its reputation, yet offers very little value in return. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have money to burn or are determined to tick it off a checklist.

5.00Right from my very first communication with Stephen, he was prompt, professional and informative. We opted for a private tour of the Upper Rock - just my husband and myself - as our cruise ship was in port on a day that Stephen does not have scheduled group tours. We had a fantastic day! Stephen has a wealth of information to share about the history of Gibraltar. We found it fascinating and the hike was so much nicer than just taking a taxi to the top (in our humble opinion). Stephen took us to areas that our friends did not get to see on their excursions from the ship. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great day in Gibraltar. We have taken many excursions and tours and this was right up there with our favourites because Stephen makes it so personal and goes at your pace. If this sounds like the tour you would like to do, book it with Stephen - Walking Gibraltar - as you will not be disappointed.

5.00We were recently at Gibraltar for a few days and decided to take the walking tour, as opposed to a van ride to the top. The tour itself was somewhat of a workout, and lasted about 4.5 hrs start to finish. Stephen our guide was very personable, and was knowledgeable of the history of the Rock, as well as the the general area. He tried to tailor the walk to the wishes of the group, keeping in mind our varying stamina levels. The views were really great. One of the highlights was our close interaction with the Barbary Monkeys on the top. They were around us for about 30-45 minutes total, and were not shy at all. All in all a very informative afternoon. I recommend this for a up close & personal experience. But keep in mind the walk, while very doable, is exerting.
An engaging, excellent guide. Recommend him highly.

5.00Our personal tour with Stephen was awesome! His professionalism, knowledge and passion for the Rock was inspiring and insightful. Understand this is a walking tour up the Rock with many stops and views along the way, not to mention the numerous monkey sightings. Our Garmin watch indicates 127 stories of stairs! After watching all the tour buses full of cruise ships passengers pass us by, we felt we had the better tour by walking and stopping. Plus we had Stephen all to ourselves! He even mentioned where to grab an early dinner afterwards (Ocean) which was fantastic! All in all, one of the better tours of our trip. Highly recommend Walk Gibraltar!

5.00We had an incredible experience on our private walking tour of Gibraltar. Our guide, Stephen, was knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about Gibraltar’s rich history and culture. We were able to see so much in just a few hours. From the iconic Rock and the stunning views over the Strait, to the monkeys at the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, St. Michael’s Cave, and even the WWII tunnels – every stop was fascinating. Our guide provided just the right amount of context and stories at each location. A walking tour with Stephen is absolutely the way to experience Gibraltar. Highly recommend – 10/10!
