Come aboard The USS Yorktown and hear the stories of the American Heroes who lived, died, and are still rumored to be here today. Commissioned in 1943, the “Fighting Lady” was once manned by over 3,000 people and designed to fight off enemies all over the globe during WWII. You will hear stories of their ultimate sacrifice and heroism as the people that once inhabited this ship dedicated their lives to the service of our country and to this great ship. This tour gives you exclusive night time access to areas of the ship that are closed to the public, including access to the flight deck after dark.

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Tours do run rain or shine. The USS Yorktown is not climate controlled. It is hot in the Summer and cold in the Winter. Please dress accordingly and wear closed-toed, comfortable shoes. There is a good amount of walking and lots of narrow stairways to navigate up and down and throughout the tour. There are also ladders used that are not easy to navigate for one having trouble walking.
**Please note the tour is not handicapped accessible.
You must enter through the front gates. WATER SIDE GATE IS NOT OPEN FOR ENTRY
Bringing bottled water is recommended especially during the summer heat. Ship store is not open for purchases.

5.00My wife, daughter and I really enjoyed the tour. Tad was a fantastic tour guide who knew the history of the ship and infused humor and tales of spirit encounters during the 90 minute tour. I couldn’t help but appreciate the history of the USS Yorktown and all of the souls that have served on her over the years. We all had a great tour!

5.00Great tour. Plenty of creepy moments - no sightings, but several noises. Our guide was engaging and knowledgeable. The stairs are steep but manageable for most people.

5.00Dave was amazing. You could tell that he loves his job and was extremely passionate. He had a lot of insight that made the tour not only scarier, but funnier at the same time if that makes sense. The tour ended at 10:30 pm and while we waited for our Lyft he made sure that we got into our ride safely. All in all a great tour with multiple scary places in the ship and scary stories with picture proof! A must if you’re going to visit Charleston, SC.

4.00Tad said our group was the largest he had ever had. That said, we had no problems hearing him and he did a great job leading us through the tour. Other than one teenager, the rest of the group was mainly in the 53-70+ year old range so even more impressive that Tad did such a great job! The stories he told kept us all engaged. Can't recommend this tour enough!
