Explore one of the most stunning treks in the world, located in the heart of Bahia. The Vale do Pati sits at approximately 1,000 meters above sea level and offers a fascinating diversity of landscapes, transitioning between remnants of Atlantic Forest, Campos Rupestres (high-altitude savanna), and Campos Gerais. This region, which housed farmers about two centuries ago, now features 14 preserved houses that serve as accommodations for visitors and nature enthusiasts.
Our itinerary covers the region's most iconic spots, such as Morro do Castelo, Cachoeirão, and Mirante da Rampa, completing a loop within the valley as we use the same access route to enter and exit the Pati. This itinerary requires good physical fitness and the ability to hike for several days under adverse weather conditions (sun, rain, slippery, and rugged terrain, etc.).

Após 3 horas do início da caminhada vamos chegar no Mirante da Rampa onde podemos ver o Vale do Pati de um ângulo bastante privilegiado.

Sairemos às 8:00 após o café da manhã e seguiremos em direção ao Morro do Castelo apenas com nossos itens de uso diário. Este será o dia de maior esforço físico, pois subiremos um morro com mais de 250m de altura e mais de 1200m de altitude. A subida dura entre 60 e 80 minutos. Após a subida, temos terreno majoritariamente plano até a entrada da Gruta da Lapinha. No topo do Morro do Castelo, conheceremos 2 mirantes diferentes e a entrada da Gruta da Lapinha, uma das grutas mais raras do mundo, situada a mais de 1.000m de altitude. Retornaremos pelo mesmo caminho e, caso tenhamos tempo, poderemos visitar alguma cachoeira próxima à hospedagem.

Iremos nos despedir da nossa hospedagem e partiremos no mesmo horário, às 8:00. Caminharemos por cerca de 3 horas até o Mirante do Cachoeirão (2 horas em terreno acidentado e 1 hora em terreno plano), que tem aproximadamente 280m de altura. Se estivermos em uma estação chuvosa, poderemos contemplar cerca de 16 cascatas ao redor do vale. É emocionante! Após o lanche preparado pelo nosso condutor, seguiremos pelos Gerais do Rio Preto até a descida dos Aleixos, onde nosso carro estará pronto por volta das 17:00 para fazer o transfer de volta até Lençóis (80km).

5.00Fantastic experience doing a 3 day Vale Do Pati trek with Aurora as our guide! Aurora spoke English extremely well and was very knowledgeable about the area including much of the flora, pointing out many things to us along our way. The sights were breathtaking, the waterfalls were epic, and adventure was awesome. Marcelo was very helpful in organizing everything for us and was extremely efficient and prompt in his responding to all of our questions. I should also note, everything was organized very last minute as a private tour for just a friend and I. Thank you Marcelo & Aurora!

5.00We had the most amazing 3 day Vale de Pati trek with the best guide, Daniel! From start to finish, the communication was awesome, the food was delicious, and most importantly, Daniel created such an impeccable and fun vibe for our group. There were only four of us, which was great compared to some of the other large groups with other companies we saw on the trail. The landscape is stunning, and each day has new environments and scenery. It is challenging enough to feel fulfilling but not so hard that you aren’t having fun. This is truly one of my favorite treks I’ve ever done, and apart from the stunning nature, most of the credit for that goes to Daniel - from his evening campfire singing/rapping and guitar playing to his hilarious jokes and wealth of knowledge about the area, we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. I would go again with Mamut Trekking in a heartbeat!

5.00Diamantina Mountains agency referred us to Mamut Agency, where Marcelo made the arrangements for trekking with guide Felipe. It was amazing! Felipe assessed our ability and interests and scheduled our hiking and leisure to maintain the intensity level we wanted and maximize solitude during a very busy season. He was on the lookout for wildlife and shared his extensive knowledge of flora, fauna, geology, and history. Felipe also prepared hearty, nutritious, and delicious lunches on the trail, in beautiful locations with stunning views or swimming opportunities. The guesthouse accommodations are basic, as you would expect, and the meals were excellent, with a surprising amount of variety. May you have the privilege of enjoying the pre-dinner gengibre drink and breakfast sourdough cakes at Dona Linda’s!

5.00We did the 3 day trek with Felipe and couldn’t recommend it enough. Felipe was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide, we learnt about all the different wild life in the region and were shown plenty of spectacular view points and waterfalls during our trip. The prepared lunches were great and the accommodation was in a perfect setting with fantastic evening meals. Mamut trekking were brilliant and we would go back to Chapada Diamantina with them in a heartbeat!

5.00I did the 3 Day Pati Valley trek with my sister and everything from the initial info request to the tour itself was top notch. The tour was arranged seamlessly over WhatsApp with flexible dates and availability in English or Portuguese. There were only 3 people in total in our group (think the max is 4) which made it a really personal experience and also meant we didn't each have to carry 3-4kg of food like in the larger groups. Felipe was a great guide - knowledgeable, super friendly and obviously loves what he does. He really helped make the trek an amazing and truly memorable experience. The stunning views alone were worth the tired legs and aching body. We also did the Muritiba Park trail with Felipe the day after, which was a good way to recover - easy on the legs and plenty of time chilling out in the natural pools and waterfalls. I really can't recommend Mamut highly enough. Book with them and you won't be disappointed. Muito obrigado Felipe e Marcelo - vcs fizeram a nosso visita para Lençóis inesquecível. Até a próxima!

5.00We did the 3 day Vale do Pati hike with Mamut agency and loved the whole experience from start to end. Communication beforehand via whatsapp with Marcello was more than excellent. He was extremely helpful with all the booking and preparation process. This agency is highly professional. One day before departure we met our guide Achilla in the Mamut office. Our guide was very friendly, careful and adapted to all our needs. His knowledge about the national park is enormous and he made us feel at ease and safe the whole time. Lunch was deliciously prepared by him during our 3 days. We loved the entire experience and recommend this hike with Mamut agency 100%!!! Hope to see you again in the future guys!

5.00We did a private 3-day hike with Mamur. We organised everything through Marcelo, who was a total pleasure to deal with - he was very flexible, responsive and tailored everything to our needs and preferences. The first two days of our hike were with Felipe and the third day was with Rodolfo. They were both very knowledgeable, experienced and passionate about Chapada Diamantina. I would highly recommend using Mamut - it was a great experience all-round!

5.00Mamut Trekking is a very well organised agency with outstanding service and always ready to take the extra mile. We planned our hiking tour for four people around 60 years old in advance with the experienced and sympathetic Marcelo of Mamut Trekking. When planning our 3-day trip in the Pati Valley Marcelo’s response time was fast and comprehensive, so we were well prepared for the tour. The communication in English was uncomplicated. Our tour guide Daniel spoke good English, was very knowledgeable and could thus tell us a lot about the fantastic Fauna and Flora in the Pati Valley. We felt safe, enjoyed the time with him and of course the great food he prepared for us at lunch time. We stayed at the guest house Casa Miguel & Agnaldo for two nights and would highly recommend it, not only for its beautiful location and clean rooms, but also for the excellent dinners and breakfasts served. Overall, when planning a hiking tour in the Chapada Diamantina, Mamut Trekking would again be my first choice.
