We meet at Cerciz Topulli square, where you join with your host and walk over to one of the oldest neighbourhoods, “Pazar i Vjeter” to meet Marjeta and her husband. We begin the class with a glass of raki or a soft drink while chatting with your group mates. The food we are going to prepare is a vegetarian menu, and under the guidance of Marjeta we will learn three dishes. The first one is called “Qofte bobollaqe” consisting mainly on yogurt, the traditional “Qifqis” found only in Gjirokaster and consisting mainly on rice and the desert called “Hasude”. All these three are accompanied by the salad of the season Marjeta has already prepared for you. After all the hard work, sit down with your group to savor each of your dishes. Pair your menu with a complimentary glass of wine, raki, or a soft drink and have a nice chat while you eat. Your cooking class will conclude after the meal.
Cheers and Bon appetite!

We will teach you some special recipes of Teta Marjeta, a lady that loves cooking and will open her home for us. We step inside Marjetas home, sip on a glass of raki produced by her husband and try your hand at some vegetarian recipes. We sit down to savor the fruits of your labor with your guide and Marjeta. What a great experience to get out into a beautiful neighborhood and learn about Albanian culture through the food! Gorgeous outdoor kitchen, lovely hosts, fun interactive activity. The vegetarian class primarily consisted of cooking with flour, oil, water, and rice but fortunately Marjeta rounded it out with a fantastic salad from her garden.

The highlight of the experience was Marieta – she was definitely a character: joyful, cheeky, and so much fun! We were welcomed by a friendly translator who stayed with us throughout, which added to the experience. They answered all of our questions, and additional dishes accompanied what we made.

This cooking class was great! We didn’t end up going to the originally planned class, but did a class at “friends’ hostel”. The communication with the tour company was great and he even drove us to the new location (since the class was changed). We had a great time and the food was amazing! But the best part was the hospitality of the people there. We were welcomed as family and even had the dinner with the family and learned a lot about food and the community. 10/10 would recommend!

We booked the vegeterian cooking class and Teta Marjeta was incredible and funny even without speaking english. There was an english translator with us who explained everything. The cooking class was very informative, the dishes we learned are an integral part of Gjirokaster history. Also the dinner setup was so cute :) Much recommended.

I organized a surprise trip to Albania to my best friend and also this experience was a surprise to her. I thought it was a great idea of us to connect with local culture and learn something we can both bring home. Marieta was such a nice lady, she made us feel super comfortable. Also having a translator was something interesting! I highly recommend and I’m sure I would do it again!

This cooking class was a 10/10! I was alone during this class, which surely made the experience even more personal. Marjeta is very friendly, as well as Klarissa, who was there to translate my English and the Albanian of Marjeta. I learned a lot, and I came out very satisfied with this experience, with a good dinner, leftovers, and nice pictures taken by Klarissa. I completely recommend this unique experience in Gjirokaster.

This was one of the best parts of our 2-week trip in the Balkans! The host, Marijeta is talented and charismatic. Our translator was a brilliant and funny high school student who was very skilled at translating and being in conversation. We do cooking classes in every place we visit and this one was less hands-on than others we’ve done but incredible food and a great vibe overall.

This experience feels more like a cooking demonstration than a hands on cooking class. It would be better if each person or group of 2 had their own cooking station rather than one cooking station for everyone.
