  Alastair is the guide you hope to get, but rarely do. This small group tour with Alastair is a must do, especially for the history buffs out there, where his knowledge of 18/19th century French history is encyclopaedic.. Pre-tour communication was precise and unambiguous and the rest of this full day tour flowed like clockwork, with ample breaks and an awesome itinerary. I can’t thank you enough Alastair.

  We had an absolutely fantastic tour with Alistair, who took my sister and me on a wonderfully detailed and engaging exploration of the Versailles gardens, the Petit Trianon, and Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet. We were super lucky with the weather, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable—especially feeding the enormous (and very enthusiastic!) carp in the canal, which was a real highlight. Alistair was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about the history, and so friendly—he brought everything to life with fascinating stories and answered all our questions with enthusiasm. The tour was well-paced with plenty of stops, and he made sure we got to the main palace entrance right on time for our self-guided visit. A truly excellent experience from start to finish—we couldn’t recommend him more highly!

  Our guide Allister is fantastic! He was very knowledgeable, fun and gave us a different perspective of the palace and its grounds.

  Alistair was fantastic! So knowledgeable about the history of Versailles. He made it a point to give us time for the bathrooms. Plenty of time to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee/lunch. Genius that we did the gardens and Hamlet first then the palace. The meeting point was straightforward and he was there waiting for us on time. He was engaging with all of the guests. It was so nice just having six people! I really felt I learned a piece of history today because of Alistair.

  We were guided through the expansive and incredible grounds around the Palace of Versailles by Alastair, who did an incredible job of timing our movements around the grounds with the fountain displays as they were turned on. His knowledge and narrative built up a complete picture of the palace and its many and varied sites, sculptures, fountains and art works. Be aware the scale of the grounds is truly incredible so there is, of course, a lot of walking on the tour, however Alastair did ensure we had regular breaks to use the facilities and get a coffee and a bite to eat- wear comfortable shoes and settle in for a full day of breathtaking sights! Truly the highlight of our trip.
