We cannot say enough good things about the Vienna Through a Lens tour. While the private tour was geared towards the Vienna film locations, the company customized the tour to emphasize the locations of the film, The Third Man, as well as added a private tour of The Third Man Museum (a wonderful experience unto its own). By way of background, my wife had been to Vienna twice in the past. While this was my first time to Vienna, I looked forward to experiencing the coffee house culture, as well as the seeing the locales and learning more about the post-war history covered in the classic film the Third Man. What was initially offered as a 4 hour private tour, became a custom 8 hour tour. Yet, because of the comfort of a BMW 700 series limousine expertly driven by Andrei, and the insightful itinerary and commentary provided by Wiebka, we were kept interested and entertained. This was a truly enjoyable experience with stimulating conversation. Highlights of the tour included, * walking down the road of the Central Cemetary, featured 3 times in movie * riding the Riesenrad (the Ferris wheel) in the Prada amusement park, * eating Strudel with coffee in the Cafe Mozart,a relaxing diversion, and, * a private tour, personally conducted by the museum co-founder, Gerhard, of the Third Man Museum providing addtional detail and insights, not just of the film but post-war Vienn As one would imagine, this tour was not a minor expense and may seem to be an extravagance - for just seeing some film locations. Instead, it provided a comprehensive overview of Vienna sights, history and culture. For us, this fascinating experience was well worth it and the memorable highlight of our entire trip from Budapest through Prague.
