  John, our tour guide, was fantastic. He reached out to us prior to our tour to introduce himself and to ensure we were setup for a great experience. We arrived early and he was there waiting for us. His knowledge of the area, the people, and its history was amazing. He was very pleasant to talk to and strongly recommend him to anyone looking for an exceptional personal tour.

  My friend and I were in Europe a couple of weeks ago. I planned the trip originally so I could see some plays in London and visit Stockholm because I heard it was beautiful. When looking at the transportation from London to Stockholm (on a map) we jumped when we saw Isle of Man in the middle (sort of). Since we are both huge fans of the tv show Heartstopper and one of the leads is Joe Locke (a Manx) we though it would be fun to give it a try. Well it turned out to be the highlight of our whole trip. It is a unique experience and John Shakespeare is a unique guide. We spent the whole day with him and he showed us all the wonderful sights and then some! Not being a racing fan, I had no idea this was a world renowned spot for the famous TT race . I certainly learned a lot about that! The history of the island is amazing - Vikings, mining and the largest water wheel in the world, sites for films and more. Since we were Joe Locke fans we were taken to some sites that would be of specific interest to us and I even bought a necklace like one Joe has. Overall, John Shakespeare was one of the best tour guides I have ever been with and if you are going to IOM, please check him out.

  Our full day bespoke private tour by John Shakespeare was truly memorable and formed the huge love we now have for the Isle of Man. There were just 2 of us and we had unique interests and requests. We first heard of Isle of Man through the impressive young Manx actor, Joe Locke. Besides playing co-lead actor on Netflix’s Heartstopper, Joe recently won a Human Rights Campaign Impact Award. This inspired us to learn about the Manx culture and the history of the island. I researched tour guide options and chose John. Luckily he had availability. He asked about our interests… History, archeology, nature and Joe Locke. John not only took us on a FULL day adventure of spectacular sites including “queenies” he introduced us to people and places connected to Joe Locke. We even stopped by an active film set. John went way above what we dared to dream. He even played the bagpipes for us on top of a mountain.   We had an amazing experience with John. He customized the trip to suit our wishes and showed us places we would never have found on our own. John even brought out his cat-whispering skills to show us a proper Manx cat :) His humour and outgoing personality made this trip the highlight of our stay on Isle of Man.

  John was an exceptional guide, combining extensive knowledge with a great sense of humor. The tour was incredibly engaging and informative, making it clear that a full day is necessary to truly appreciate the Isle of Man's rich offerings. John's passion for preserving the island's heritage was palpable, adding depth to our experience. We left with a wealth of new insights and thoroughly enjoyed the excellent company throughout the day. Highly recommended!

  We had an amazing Viking tour with John! We covered a lot of ground and heard a lot of history along the way. John is an excellent story-teller and he really brought the history of the island alive for us!
