Puente de Boyaca

We will make a stop at the Puente de Boyacá, a National Monument that holds significant historical importance as it commemorates Colombia's independence from the Spanish Kingdom in the 19th century.

The Plaza Mayor of Villa de Leyva features cobbled streets, a central water fountain, and the iconic Nuestra Señora del Rosario Church. This historic square houses restaurants, hotels, museums, and craft shops that showcase the town's colonial architecture.

The Our Lady of the Rosary Church, on the Plaza Mayor's east side, carries historical significance. Built in 1604, it preserves Baroque features. Inside, visitors find captivating altars, paintings, and images displaying cultural heritage.

Casa Museo Antonio Narino

While visiting the Antonio Nariño Museum, a well-preserved 17th-century colonial house, travelers learn about the life of Antonio Nariño and the historical context of his time, while admiring its architecture. Please note that the museum is closed every Wednesday.

Centro de Investigaciones Paleontologicas - CIP

The Paleontology Research Center in Villa de Leyva is dedicated to preserving fossils from more than 100 million years ago, including Ichthyosaurs, Plesiosaurs, and Sea Turtles. These fossils provide valuable insights into the ancient species that once inhabited the region that is now Colombia.

Museo Comunitario El Fosil in Villa de Leyva showcases ancient fossils, offering a glimpse into the prehistoric past. With a rich collection and community involvement, it provides a fascinating exploration of the region's geological history.

The Saint Ecce Homo Convent, completed in 1620 and belonging to the Dominican Order, holds historical significance. The monastery witnessed key moments of our liberation campaign and reflects Colombia's connections with Europe throughout its rich history.

At Umaña Dajud Winery in Villa de Leyva, located 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) above sea level, visitors have the opportunity to visit a unique high-altitude vineyard. In addition to a guided winery tour, guests can enjoy a tasting that highlights the quality of Colombian wine. Please note that the winery is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays; on those days, the itinerary is adjusted to include alternative experiences in the area.
