Wat Phnom

The first stop will be at the significant historical site of Phnom Penh, Wat Phnom. I will show you the Lady Penh statue and explain the history of Lady Penh before climbing up the steps. The entrance fee is USD1.

    I had a wonderful day. Our tour guide was fantastic. He took us to amazing places and explained everything in detail. He was humorous, answered our questions well and provided us with drinks. All in all, a very enjoyable day. I can definitely recommend it if you want to see a lot of the city on a tour.

    I really enjoyed all the places we went, and appreciated the availability of water between stops. However, the guide was really more of a driver and didn't add a whole lot to the tour. For example, we got to the killing fields and were told to come back in an hour. Not what i was expecting! I also struggled with the afternoon heat, and could have probably used a slightly shorter tour or had it broken up a bit better with AC between locations.

    It’s a private car. We shared the trip with one other couple. We went to a local restaurant for lunch and it was very authentic quality food. Our guide was respectful of our needs.

    I not only got the wonderful Mr. Sop as driver and guide, but he kept a bunch of us middle-aged beer-drinkers from multiple English-speaking countries quite entertained. That's not always an easy task with the subject matter at hand when you talk about late 20th Century Cambodia. Even if you know a little before you go, you'll see things that are both wonderful and highly heartbreaking (learn from them, please). Highly recommended.
