  We visited this museum as we were staying in Cavtat and looking to experience something different than the bars and restaurants that we'd already visited. This museum has an amazing collection of shells, very well curated and displayed. It also has a fascinating video with some incredible shell facts. The lady who owned the museum was lovely and talked to us about her family collection and how they'd collected the shells from around the world. She also offered even offered us a couple of shells from her personal collection as my wife wanted some local shells. She also offers shells for sale. A lovely collection, highly recommended if you have an interest in nature and/or shells.

  We visited recently during our stay in Cavtat and this small gem of a museum captured my heart. The love, care and passion of the curator and her family comes across in this unexpectedly moving experience. The shells are displayed beautifully and there is an atmosphere of reverence that honestly was so thoughtful and touching. Definitely worth a visit.   A very interesting visit. The lady who gave us a guided tour was very informative and made us aware of a world 🌎 we didn't know anything about! Mother nature is indeed wonderful in the creation of this amazing creatures who adapt to their habitat in the most spectacular fashion. The story of how a pearl is formed in nature and how many has used that information to create pearls today was an outstanding memory for me Id certainly recommend 👌 the guided tour.

  Great collection. Very well presented and very educational. Good audio guide. Suitable for both short and long visits. Own story for kids. You should probably have a nerd to thrive very well. The woman who created the museum is very knowledgeable. Fine shell jewelry for sale.

  A lovely little museum in the heart of Cavtat, just a short walk from the bus station. Despite its small size, it holds a rich and diverse collection of shells from oceans around the world. The lady running the museum was incredibly kind and informative, happy to explain everything in detail. Great for a short solo visit or with family.   What a find. We were recommended this museum by a fellow traveller in our hotel. We were greeted by the owner who gave us a brief introduction to molluscs and shells and explained the history behind the museum and her passion for the collection helped by a brief video explaining molluscs and shells. It was fascinating to see all the different shells, sizes,colours etc. This is worth a visit even if you have no interest in shells etc.

  On our first stroll through Cavtat, we saw that there was a shell museum and immediately put it on our list of things to do. It took us a few days to get around to it, but it was worth the wait. On a surface level, it is a very large collection of shells housed in a very old building, which has, at times, also been used as a church and as a theatre, but if you take a moment to get the back story behind the collection and perhaps more importantly, use your time in the room to reflect on both the wonders of the natural world and our responsibilities within it, I think you will find this a very enriching experience. When we entered, we were greeted by Ines, who welcomed us and gave us an overview of her families devotion to travel and to the treasures of the sea. Her passion and depth of knowledge was a beautiful thing to experience and set exactly the right tone for the duration of our visit. Outside the museum, there are cafes, bars, cruises and yes, no little natural beauty, but some thoughtful time spent inside the museum will give you the opportunity to develop a greater appreciation of all of that.
