Pico Carvao
Upon reaching the volcanic complex of Sete Cidades, the first stop is at the Pico do Carvão viewpoint, from here we can see a large part of the island, the entire north coast, the complex of peaks and the volcanic complex of Serra de Água de Pau and thus the guide can explain the geological formation of the island.
Lagoa do Canario
The small lagoon of Canário located in the vicinity of the caldera of the volcano of the seven cities, is inserted in a forest park, here in addition to visiting the lagoon, you will also find one of the most emblematic viewpoints on the island of São Miguel, the viewpoint of Grota do inferno . 5.00Neilton was a fantastic guide. He tools us to places that the buses couldn’t get to. He was kind and professional. He took us to his family’s restaurant for lunch and it was wonderful.

5.00We were picked up promptly from our ship by our guide. Unfortunately we had a lot of fog on the first part of the tour and did not see much on the overlooks...not the tours fault. Once we got on the other side of the island it was beautiful and we had great views. Lunch was at the Guide's family restaurant. There was a spectacular view of the ocean and the food was very good. The staff was great and we enjoyed it very much. We drove through some small towns that were very nice. Our guide was able to accommodate our request to make a quik stop at the pineapple farm. We appreciated that.

5.00We would heartily recommend this tour. Tiago was a marvelous wealth of information as his family has lived here for generations. His warm and gentle nature kept it open to ask many questions. The scenery was gorgeous and Tiago got us to the best viewing spots. And the lunch at his family's restaurant was fabulous. We had a comfortable car, beautiful weather and a delightful day.

5.00Private tour was spectacular and very flexible to the customers. The best part was eating delicious Azores lunch at the tour guide’s family restaurant. A lifetime resident of the Azores, the tour guide had very interesting history and details about the region. Highly recommend this tour.

5.00Great Tour with a local. Accommodated our request for a short hike and chose a fantastic, scenic short trail well suited to our abilities. Great lunch included at his family's restaurant with amazing view over the north coast. Lovely guide. Would certainly recommend this tour!

5.00Tiego was a great tour guide. We loved having a private guide and vehicle instead of being with a large cruise group on a bus. The included lunch at his family's restaurant was delicious and had a beautiful view. I highly recommend this tour.

5.00Our disembarkation was delayed about 15 minutes, yet our guide, Tiago, was there. The weather was extremely cloudy and misting so Tiago explained the clouds would prohibit us from seeing Sete Cidades as planned that morning; however, he had recommendations for a few other sites that turned out to be extremely interesting and entertaining. We went to the oldest pottery factory where everything is made by hand and got to see how each step of the process was done. We also visited the only tea growers and processors in Europe (with a tour) and learned all about tea! Along the way, Tiago asked if there was anything we would enjoy seeing and we told him we like to visit churches. We stopped at a cathedral with a very interesting history and had as much time there as we wanted. He also showed us some of the various villages and country side and we gained some interesting information along the way. While lunch was included, we did not expect a 3 course meal at a family run restaurant! We were given choices for each course and the food was delicious... so much so, we were too full for dessert! We highly recommend this tour!!!

5.00We had an incredible 1.5 days with Nilton from 4Plátanos Tours exploring São Miguel. He took us through Furnas, the botanical gardens, Sete Cidades, Lagoa do Fogo, black sand beaches, and even the island’s tea factory. Nilton was warm, knowledgeable, and made the days feel relaxed and personal. A highlight was lunch at his family’s restaurant in Santo António—absolutely delicious! We also loved the stops in Mosteiros and Ponta Delgada. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, and we never felt rushed. If you want to truly experience the beauty and culture of São Miguel, I can’t recommend Nilton and his brother Tiago highly enough. Book them—you’ll have an unforgettable tour!

5.00Such a wonderful tour. Thiago our guide was such a knowledgeable person about what, when and why to visit each one of the places. He is a native of the island, that makes him love the place and therefore transmits that energy. We just had a great time. He was great with the kids, flexible with time and places. Really you won’t regret. We highly recommend this tour. For a perfect closing we had a wonderful meal at a very nice restaurant, with delicious food and an amazing view to the sea and north coast of the island. Do not think anymore and reserve the tour. We just loved it.
