Quito
Departure time: Approximately 8:00 AM from Quito. During the journey, you'll enjoy spectacular views of the Andes Mountains and observe several volcanoes, some active and others extinct: Cotopaxi (active, one of the country's tallest and most iconic volcanoes), Pasochoa (extinct), and Rumiñahui (extinct volcano with an impressive rock formation).
Quilotoa
Visit a Local's House: A visit to Don Julián's house allows you to experience the traditional lifestyle of the Andean inhabitants, at over 3,500 meters above sea level. The presence of the guinea pig is notable, an animal that, according to local beliefs, protects against negative energies. You can also see plantations of Andean tubers, such as potatoes, and other agricultural products.

Excellent full day trip with a very knowledgeable and interactive guide who spoke very good English. Picked us up at our hotel. We had 6 people in our group including 2 children. Everyone enjoyed the different stops. Perfect to get a taste of the local culture and natural beauty of the region. The hike to crater lake was challenging but optional. The guide took lots of photos and videos for us. The only negative was the length of time spent traveling, as quilotoa was 3 hours from Quito and there was bad traffic on the way back. Still highly recommend!
