Walk alongside thousands of penguins on Isla Magdalena and see the diverse fauna of Isla Marta
Cruise the Strait of Magellan to the Magdalene and Marta Islands. Magdalene Island hosts over 40,000 penguins each year and Marta Island hosts over 1,500 sea lions. We begin with this unique adventure, after checking in at our office, we head towards Bahia Laredo by transfer to embark on speedboats; for 45 minutes towards Magdalena Island, where we will disembark 1 hour with our guide to know the natural habitat of the Magellanic Penguins, in the largest colony in South America. We continue our journey to Marta Island to see Sea Lions (weather permitting), imperial cormorants and hundreds of southern seagulls. Then return to the pier and Punta Arenas. We'll also have a chance if luck goes with us to be able to spot Southern Dolphins, Overa Tonins and Sei Whales.

Isla Magdalena
Isla Magdalena is home to one of the largest colonies of Magellanic Penguins, there are around 50,000 specimens that arrive on the Island at the end of September to have their chicks, and leave the first days of April. On the island we can walk along the path with the penguins for an hour.
Isla Marta
We will circumnavigate Marta Island to observe the diverse fauna that the Strait of Magellan gives us, such as sea lions, cormorants, petrels, albatrosses and if we are lucky we can see whale blows while sailing.

5.00The tour changed the time to 10 am and notified me via WhatsApp a few days prior. The penguins were so cool to see! The bus & boat ride to the island was not too long. The water was rough on the return so we were unable to visit the sea lions.

5.00Great visit to Isla Magdalena and Isla Marta... Nice and friendly staff and great sighting of penguins and sea lions. A must do when in Punta Arenas. Quite an expensive tour though.

5.00My fiancée and I initially booked a full day whale/glacier boat tour and ended up cancelling and booking this tour instead and have no regrets. It was so fun to walk on the island with the penguins and see the sea lions/dolphins. The tour guides were so friendly and informative. We also ran into some issues with road closures due to wind the day prior and the tour agency rebooked us from the 6:30am to 10:30am tour (since there was availability) without any fees or hassle so we could still make the tour. Highly recommend!

5.00This tour was exactly what I hoped it would be! The tour leaves from the operators offices in town, very centrally located. We were placed on two buses and rode about 20 minutes to the speed boat pier. The boat was smallish with seating available in groups of 6-some larger families that boarded last had trouble sitting together. The boat has enclosed seating, and we were able to go on the roof deck for part of the ride to watch for whales and dolphins and to see the sea lions on Marta island. Our guide Sebastian was wonderful, he provided lots of information in English and Spanish and was friendly and kind. The island with the penguins was AWESOME, there were so many penguins and other birds. We had an hour to walk a slow loop up to the lighthouse then back down, and it was plenty of time to take pictures and enjoy watching the birds. Marta island with the sea lions was interesting. After the last stop we were served our choice of hot beverages and packs of cookies-basic but really hit the spot. As with anywhere in the region, plan for cold, wind, and possible rain. We were lucky and the ocean was calm, but some folks did feel a little sea sick during one point. There are restrooms at the office, on the bus, and on the boat. We arrived back in town just a bit before the scheduled time. So happy with the tour, I highly recommend!

5.00We loveed visiting the Magdalenda island and walking between penguins. You get to see them very close, it’a definitely worth paying a visit. Also, observing sealions and seals from the distance was very cool, plus our tour guides were also spectacular. Hot drink in the middle was a nice surprise! 10/10 would go again!
Don’t miss this one if you are in Punta Arenas

5.00What are lovely tour! On time, great guides (Sebastian was informative and funny at the same time!). We caught some dolphins, sea lions, elephant seals, sea gulls and the star of the show Magdalena Penguins! Beautiful weather added to the good vibes
