La Candelaria is the most attractive and unique colonial neighborhood in Bogotá. Since 1538, it has been a place of gorgeous colonial architecture and the center of the country's government. During this experience, one of our anthropologists, historians, or social scientists will guide you through the history of Bogotá, using the buildings, culture, and stories of this colonial and artsy neighborhood. We will also visit the Gold Museum, the most impressive indigenous museum in the country. The Gold Museum's collection includes 59,479 pre-Columbian indigenous pieces of gold art, jewelry, handicrafts, ceramics, and more. Our tour is a wonderful and unique experience in which our expert walks you through the city, sharing academic and cultural knowledge acquired in the most prestigious universities.

This is a wonderful and unique experience in which one of our social scientist takes you around the museum's different rooms and explains the symbolism behind the pieces.

5.00Oscar Diaz is an amazing knowledgeable guide with a great personality. He's an Anthropologist and college professor, so his insights incredibly informative. The Gold Museum exhibits are a special expertise of his, and that tour blew us away! Highly recommend!

5.00I’m originally from Bogota, but I lived outside of Colombia for many years and I wanted to get re-acquainted with the center, so I did this tour and it blew my mind. I thought I knew this area and its history well, but Oscar took me to landmarks I had passed by a million times but never really seen or paid attention to. I learned so much on this tour, and was incredibly impressed with how knowledgeable Oscar is that I now recommend Lateral to all my foreign friends who come to visit. I’ve since done a Paloquemao tour, coffee tasting tour, and rum tasting tour with the company, and those were also 10/10.
Best way to learn about Colombia’s history!

5.00This activity was way more than we expected. Oscar, our guide, was not only a very knowledgeable Anthropologist, but also a great Colombian with an eye for detail. He honed into our individual stories and catered to our needs both (his)story-wise as well as gastronomical. We enjoyed simply walking and learning, but also the food was great! The very specific historical facts (based on our questions) and his willingness to converse on the relationship between Colombia and former colonizer (Spain) was just a fantastic added bonus. We understand that Oscar might not always be the guide for this tour, but given he is main curator, I am sure you will not be disappointed eitherway. We wish Oscar all the best in future endeavors.

5.00If you do any tour in Bogota do this one! Oscar is a professor of anthropology and a professional coffee taster. In addition to him giving us curated tours of the colonial part of town, the Gold Museum and the Botero Museum, he took us to a boutique cafe where they roast their own coffee from their farm. He taught us all about coffee tasting - delicious. Charming and fluent in English, Oscar is a delight! Next time I'll take his food tour too! A++++ Recommendation!
Best tour ever! Super authentic and fun! highly recommend for solo travelers and groups alike.

5.00Oscar is the most amazing tour guide I have ever had. Normally I do not like guided experiences, and choose to explore cities on my own. But this is not to be missed. His knowledge of Colombian history and Bogota itself is unparalleled. It was so much fun to explore the city and see parts of it that I would not be able to find out about or access easily as a solo traveler. In the evening we met up with friends and went to the most amazing rum bar, and Oscar led us through regional varieties. I never knew I liked rum, but it truly was so special and tasty and just an awesome bar/restaurant. This would have been impossible to find without his care and expertise. I would come back to Bogota just to hang out with Oscar more - he is truly super friendly and fun to be around and also cares deeply about the tour experience and the culture and history of Bogota. All of these come together to make an incredible experience.

5.00It was an extraordinary tour of the historic center of Bogotá. The Guide was very friendly and attentive. He spoke about several historical and contemporary themes of the city and the country. He gave us excellent food recommendations. The best thing was to have entered the Gold Museum with an anthropologist, definitely another experience to appreciate all the pre-Columbian wealth. Highly recommended!
