Panteon Nacional de los Heroes
House of the Virgin of the Assumption and resting place of several of the most important historical figures of Paraguay. It is an excellent place to have an introduction to the modern history of Paraguay
Casa de la Independencia
In this place the heroes of independence planned the revolution that would give Paraguay its independence from the Spanish Crown. It is one of the few colonial houses that still remain in Asuncion and gives us a view of what Paraguay was like 200 years ago.

5.00Mathias was an outstanding guide and made this tour one of the highlights of my time in Asunción. Communication before the tour was excellent, and everything was well organized. He arrived right on time and immediately set a great tone for the experience. Mathias is a very knowledgeable historian who clearly has a deep understanding of Paraguay’s history and culture. He answered every question thoughtfully and added fascinating context that you wouldn’t get just walking around on your own. His passion for the city really comes through in the way he tells the stories. If you’re visiting Asunción, this tour with Mathias is absolutely worth doing. It gave me a much deeper appreciation for the city and honestly felt like a reason to visit Asunción in the first place. Highly recommended.

5.00I had the most enjoyable morning with Mathias, learning about Paraguay’s fascinating history. Mathias is polite, knowledgeable, and a joy to be around. I learned so much about Paraguay in just a few hours. I highly recommend Mathias!

5.00Our tour guide was fantastic.matias was veryknowledgeable, professional and friendly. he loves the city and it shows. he highlighted the best palces to visit and its historic importance. it was a walking tour which was delightful. excellent guide and excellent tour. We had a blast!!

5.00My tour guide Mathias was very intelligent and delivered an excellent overview of the history, culture and society of the very interesting and obscure Paraguay & Asuncion. He relayed this invaluable information as we visited several important landmarks, including the former Paraguayan Parliament. He has a strong command of the English language, which enables him to respond to any question posed. I would highly recommend this tour.

5.00Great informative tour. My guide Matthias was very nice and knowledgeable, accommodating and took me around the most important buildings in town, along with the historic background of the country. Highly recommended.

5.00Mathias was an incredible wealth of information. I mean, like a walking history computer! I really appreciate anyone that has taken the time to study and hone his/her craft, and Mathias did just that. Gave really great information about the history of Paraguay, in an honest way. Gave great recommendations on food/restaurants as well. If you're in ASU for a few days, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND signing up for a tour with Mathias!

5.00I very much enjoy my time with Mathias. His knowledge of history was amazing and entertaining. Great conversation, no dancing around what is bad. No doubt the historic center has much to address, yet has potential.
