Great tour focusing on the history of civil violence and the ways that peace is impacting the lives of so many. We really enjoyed the discussions as well as the Fragmentos museum. As you walk on the tour, you will notice other historical aspects.

This was one of the most interesting tours I have been on. Raul our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. It was interesting learning about the troubles in Columbia and the efforts being made since. The places visited were very all relevant and the visit to the art installation was very moving. I would recommend this tour.

Visiting the Fragmento Art Gallery hearing the story behind it. It was a very powerful way to showcase the transformation which Columbia has been going through.

This tour is outstanding and it is delivered by a first rate guide Gigio! This tour provides a thorough overview of events key to understanding conflict and peace in Bogota and Colombia. Our guide Gigio, who has personally been impacted by violence, led us through Old Town and highlighted the complexities the role Bogota has played in Colombian political and social history to help us appreciate the struggles of the Colombian people. Gigio patiently answered a myriad of questions. He also made sure we had treats at the market where local businesses are thriving. For those of you think only of Colombia as its Narco reputation, come and hear about the resilience of the people.

What a cool day! I feel like my husband and I got a Master’s Degree in recent Colombian history and the conflict with guerrillas, FARC,etc. We started the day with our guides Felipe and Raul in a really cool neighborhood for lunch and a preview of our day. We had a great lunch and then set out to walk around the Presidential Palace and the square. We saw sites of past protests and victories, but the coolest part was the photography exhibit toward the end of the afternoon. The black and white photos of the displacement of Colombians in the past 25 years was extraordinary. Our guides were knowledgable and passionate about the subject and we learned a LOT- a very different view of the conflict than the one we see most of the time in the US.

  • Peace and reconciliation tour-- an incredible never ending story!

Peace and reconciliation-- so complicated inside and out. A never ending process. I loved our Bogota walking tour and conversations with our local guide--- talking about the Embera community members who have set up a "tent camp" in the central park to protest the lack of basic services and resources in the region where they live; the incredibly moving art installation called "Ovarios- A Song of Sisterhood for the Victims of Sexual Violence in Colombia; the visit to "Fragmentos: Espacio de Arte y Memoria to see and learn about the industrial and human processes that used 37 tons of melted weaponry to create the floor to commemorate the end of the conflict; and so much more. A huge thank you to Impulse Travel for offering this tour and to our amazing guide, Raul, who did an expert job of sharing his knowledge and his own stories; facilitating our overall experience and engaging with our "endless" questions and reflections.
