Your tour begins in the V&A Wedgwood Collection, where you will explore the story of Jasperware from Josiah Wedgwood I’s early experiments to Wedgwood icons like the Portland Vase. You will then go behind the scenes of our original 1940s working factory to discover how Wedgwood is designed, created, and crafted today. Experience the craftsmanship of our world-famous Jasperware and marvel at the extraordinary skills of our artisans as they throw, turn, cast, and ornament our iconic pieces while the factory is in operation.

Insightful tour around the famous Wedgewood factory

5.00Joined a factory tour hosted by their guide Georgina. It was quite a large group and it would have been nicer to have a smaller group but Georgina handled it very well. We were able to hear her dialogue as we toured the factory as we were all issued with headphones that were connected to her microphone - so you could hear clearly in a noisy environment. The tour focused on the creation of Jasperware as this is unique to Wedgewood. They showed us the use of slip moulds, throwing and lathes to create the world famous ceramics. We also had a chance to see the skilled workers at their workstations and the intricate work they undertake. Sadly you were unable to take photographs on the tour itself, this was explained by the guide for 2 primary reasons.. Not all Wedgewood employees liked their photos taken and also some of the objects on the lines were new designs so they need to protect their intellectual property - both of which I fully understand. The tour lasted about an hour.

5.00Wow, what a beautiful place and such a fantastic museum. The tour led by Peter was so interesting and we loved the whole world Of wedgewood and we spent all day here as so much to see and read about the history. Had a great cup of tea and lunch and the staff were all so friendly and we loved our day here

5.00We had a wonderful tour through the factory, Peter was excellent, thorough and very knowledgable! For us an hour and a bit long tour was just what we needed, and we learned a lot and gleaned a whole new appreciation for the Wedgewood craft! Tea/coffee and the rhubarb and custard cake were lovely, on the expensive side for us, this was expected due to the high quality of everything, and it was nice to treat ourselves! Thank you everyone!

5.00Wonderful day out. We started in the V&A gallery- fab display. Then a tour with Peter- very knowledgable, entertaining and informative. Get to see different process stages in factory. Finally a gluten free lunch in the beautiful tea room. Yummy tea blends and food. Also factory and gift shop. Keep our heritage going!
