Experience the thrill of whale watching in Tromsø onboard the very comfortable catamaran MS Gabriele. It is also the fastest boat which means we get to the whales faster and can spend more time observing them. The most common species seen around Tromsø are the humpback whale, orca (killer whale), and sometimes the fin whale. Humpback whales are known for their acrobatic displays, often breaching and slapping their tails on the water, while orcas, with their distinctive black-and-white pattern, hunt in packs and are a sight to behold as they glide through the waves. Occasionally, lucky visitors may spot the elusive fin whale, the second-largest animal on Earth. Marvel at the breathtaking beauty of these incredible creatures as they glide through pristine waters. Don’t miss the chance to create memories that will last a lifetime—book your whale safari in Tromsø today. The tour lasts between 6 to 8 hours to ensure we have enough time to find whales any day and time to observe them.

The guide was very knowledgeable! We got to see a pod of Orcas and two sets of Humpback whales on the trip. The ship we were on had a front deck, upper back deck, and lower back deck. Make sure to wear your extra warm clothes as it is a lot colder out on the water with the wind (we went in early January). Highly recommend purchasing Dramamine if you get motion sick, they sell the sea bands but my wife started to feel a but faint even with both the meds and bands. The tour takes most of the day but you get to see lots of pretty scenery. We even got to see one of the Norwegian salmon farms on the way back. The trip did not provide free food, but the food on the boat was not over priced. On our trip they sold traditional Norwegian candy that my wife and I shared with a cup of ramen and some snacks we had also packed for the trip.

Whales were not available but the substitute was over-sold. Significantly fewer birds and animals were seen than promised and the fishing village had nothing to offer.

It was an amazing experience, the cruise team was very good, Raul the whale expert was very knowledgeable about whales and guided the tour in a fun and interesting way, after we reached high seas we were able to see the whales and it was incredible. Raul went the extra mile when ensuring to share the best video taken of a close whale encounter at sunset that amazed all of us.

Amazing experience can’t recommend this trip enough. Reccomend getting early to assure a good seat, but best times spent on the deck! Really cool experience very impressed with the facilities on board also!

Not a great experience - the trip barely made it to 6 hours, if that, so feels like a rip off. We were one of the last boats to leave, but a first one to return but a long shot.. I get that the weather and lack of proper daylight this time of year is a factor, but there seemed no genuine interest from any crew on the boat to look for whales. Instead they seemed to be more interested in their phones, and getting the trip over with. Saw one pod of orcas, and even those were spotted by a fellow passenger and not the crew. There was an announcement that other boat saw some whales elsewhere, but that we won’t bother because ‘they might not be there by the time we get there’ - which is an absolute opposite statement from every other whale watching trip I’ve been on! That’s the whole point of it - to see whales, so no one looking out for them or making any effort made a really poor impression. I get that any sightings are not guaranteed, but the lack of effort was a real let down. As well as that, there were only 2 bathrooms for 170 or so people, some basic tea and coffee (but no milk..) and the boat just seemed way too small for the amount of people as some areas would get very crowded. So overall not a great experience & definitely not worth the money.
